Title says it all, Is anyone tracking their car on St coils?

I've done auto x. I thought it handled very well. I'm pretty impressed with the DD and semi track function of the ST's

For the price and what you get can't go wrong. I autox with mine and they feel good. Very happy with them.

how high do you guys pax/raw time?

A guy at the OTA school had them in his FRS. I didn't drive his car, but my instructor did (he also has a BRZ) and he said they felt pretty good for any coilover, and really good for the price point.

That said, it was on the DDT this year so it's about as smooth of a track as you'll ever find.

I've had my STs installed since Feb and have run 6 AutoX events so far this year. I never expected them to get me to the pointy end of the field, but I've been pleased with the results so far. Here is a link to the results from a local event this past weekend:

I finished 17th out of 156 in PAX and was 1 second behind Perry Ellwood who has a well prepped RX-8 and has placed at the top of STX in two US national events (Atlanta Match Tour & Peru Match Tour). Here is a video from this weekend:

My car is lowered 1" and corner balanced. I am running -3 degrees of camber up front (HVT plates) and -2.3 degrees in the rear (no LCA). I also have a Whiteline 20mm Front Sway set to full stiff. I have no power mods and only have a tune that raises the stock rev-limiter 300 RPMs (did it in RomRaider/ECU Flash). The stock timing and AFR remains. I have 17x9 Rota Titans (I know; I cheaped out) and 245/40 ZIIs.

This setup trends toward understeer, but I'm okay with that. It transitions well at the expense of being a little pushy in sweepers. I'm considering getting rear LCAs to reduce the rear camber and may also experiment with a 16mm rear bar to dial out the understeer a bit. I could also drop the front sway bar to a softer setting, but I love the way this car transitions and don't want to give that up.

I should add, that I'm not a special driver (as the video shows) and have no national level experience. I just like to have fun locally and see how close I can get to the top talent while maintaining a tolerable daily driver.

that seems like a very smooth track? Have you had it over any rough terrain?




my main concern (always) with budget coilovers is how is their valving for anything other than smooth roads.


high rebound and a complete disregard for compression, along with very short travel, has limited applications in terms of terrain.

but I suppose if it gets the job done. Wonderful track btw, we don't get too many of those around here :)

Yeah, this site is very smooth. It's owned by Michelin and is used for tire testing. We do have an event on a smaller, rougher surface in July, so I'll know more about how these coils handle that surface soon. I've been curious to see how they handle a more challenging surface myself. I do have a rough commute to work and they seem to handle that as well as the stock suspension does for what ever that's worth. Of course, I'm just cruising and not trying to drive at the edge! ;)

I regularly auto-x mine on ST coilovers and I have been very pleased. Last sunday I came in 7th in pax out of 130. 4th in stx out of 30 cars. our lot is realllllly bumpy and they still do great. I'm very happy with them. At this point I feel I just need a little more power.

I definitely felt like they did an adequate job handling the bumps/undulations and I PAX'd much closer to some of the top competition in our region who usually smoke me pretty good on smoother lots (of course surface grip can be a factor for different tires/setups).

I competed on this same lot many times last year while my car was setup for C-Street with the stock springs/shocks. I'm confident that the STs handle the surface just as well as stock, but I have the added benefit of corner balancing and a lower CG (lowered slightly less than 1").

Anyway, just thought I'd put some more data out there for folks considering these for DD/AutoX duty. I know I'm not going to win championships with these, but they seem very capable for the average weekend warrior like me.
