This is what happens when you take your girlfriend go karting

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9z4g-OEoLc"]Jo goes for a spin - YouTube[/ame]

This weekend my significant other came to visit me and naturally I had to find something car related for us to do. Initially my mind went to autocross, which I love, but the fact that the seat is bolted down in my crx so there would be two options she could drive her Prius or sit on telephone books to reach the pedals. So my next idea was go karts were we could get some good head to head action. We headed to Airport Go Karts in Cleveland OH as they seemed to be the fastest karts in a 30 mile radius, please correct if someone knows of a better place, I would love to go.

They seemed to be a decent middle of the road go karts. With 6hp they could do about 30 MPH advertised. Although you could still drive around with the throttle pinned the whole way around the track it took some skill. Doing so would net you the result of getting nice and slideways which makes a fwd driver like myself feel like drift king. You can even see my girlfriend counter-steering through turns which I thought was awesome, she just picked up on it on her own.

Anyways there were some perks about the karts not being too intense, it made me feel like naturally a little bumping and grinding was allowed. I'll be honest I didn't tap any people in the double karts even though I wasn't worried about scaring the kids that were riding in the karts I and was worried that their parents would over reacting. It was a great time and maybe I got a little carried away at the end... I don't know at least this video shows you how much speed you scrub off when you drift.

congrats my girlfriend at the time (now wife) went to the local kart track with me and got tagged by one of my friends. She wont get back in one now lol. She got hit so hard, her helmet and wheel came off.

Then I got pit for going between them. Still, good to see she's willing to go karting. If you ever get the chance to come down to cincy, we have a couple good places here with faster karts.

I love karting. The best one I've been to is at Victory Lane in Charlotte. Indoor track, helmets, and race suits. 270cc 9HP karts, we got 40-45mph about. And I lost the rear in a turn only to have a friend of mine t-bone me doing 35-40mph. I was sore for a few days after that. There's a new kart track that opened very near me though that uses the same karts, so I'm going to have to go.

My girlfriend knows her way around a track as good as I do. She beats me every time because she's half my weight, makes me mad but there's nothing I could do about it.

I have a friend down in cincy who's always talking about a good karting place. Id love to go to improve my driving, maybe ease my transition from fwd to rwd.

I take my girlfriend to the electric indoor karts here every so often, shes pretty good to be honest, and those things will do 70km/h indoors...

I wish it wasn't so damn expensive.

My only experience with indoor karts was in NJ and was ruined by the operator constantly remotely shutting off the karts because people were being too aggressive.

dafuq is the point of karting if not to be the fastest?

I am a regular at the place in town here so they are a little less aggressive with shutting us down, and usually let me start in pole for grid.

we never get shut down. You fuck up, you get pitted. We are all gas though

Quite surprised myself. I've never been to a place that doesn't make you wear helmets.

In fact, there are none in Toronto where you don't wear helmets with the exception of the kiddie karts at Playdium (which are awfully slow).
