Perrin Exhaust?
I was thinking of getting the Perrin catback exhaust. Question is resonated or non-resonated? This car is for daily driving I don't want to catch thaaat much attention. Just wondering which to get.

Plenty o info on the exhaust forum. I dunno anything about that exhaust.
|
got the resonated one and very happy with it.
non-resonated is a little raspy for my taste. |
Plenty of videos on YouTube of different exhausts available for you to get an idea. FT86speedfactory also posts clips of each of the different exhausts they sell, too. If you say you don't want to draw any attention, I would recommend the resonated versions. It was difficult for me to tell a difference between the 2.5" and the 3" so I bought the 2.5" and have no regrets. Other options I considered in the, "deep tone, no drone, nice and mellow," category were the Greddy SP Elite Axleback, Nameless Performance Axleback, Nvidia N1.
And of course, the Engine, Exhaust, Transmission technical forum has a lot of useful info, too. Good luck with your decision. |
I know this question all too well. When I first got my car I ordered the perrin header back non resonated system (before they got rid of the cat Pipe) and it sounded great until I ordered headers that's when it got bad. The rasp was so bad I was embarrassed to drive my car so I ordered the resonated pipe and it sounded so much better. Zero rasp.

The exhaust forum is this way >>> Engine, Exhaust, Transmission

I've got the resonated. Love it. Not too loud to grab the attention of cops, but WOT still has a nice sound/volume.
|
Non resonated 2.5 and you will be very happy. No drone at cruising and has great exhaust note getting on the throttle and warm ups.
|
If you don't want attention, go with the resonated.
I've got the non-resonated, and it's quite loud. On cold starts when I pull out of my garage, my wife tells me you can easily hear it from the top floor of the house. And in my underground parking garage at work, it will set off car alarms. One time a family with a young kid was walking next to my car as I started the car, and the sound literally made the kid jump and cover his ears. I got a dirty look from the father. For an aftermarket exhaust, it might be relatively quiet, but it's definitely not an OEM-plus type exhaust if that's what you're looking for. |
