FR-S / BRZ Discontinued?

There has been allot of press lately regarding Toyota / Suburu discontinuing joint development of the twins. If this is the case are we all driving modern day classics that will fetch big dollars in the future? If this is the case I might pick up another one and garage it for life.

Any thoughts?

I think if we get enough people posting about this, we may actually manifest this into reality.

Hmmmm. I hope so.

If they do will people stop posting threads about it?

it's all speculation and nothing official. no source remotely close to toyota or subaru has come out with this info. i too can put words into tetsuya tada's mouth.

Yesterday Tetsuya Tada announced a twin charged performance model of the popular 86 twins. :D

since the 86 chassis is being cut, toyota and subaru are trying to produce as many "limited" editions as they can during 2014-2015

pretty sure there is fact in this. They already said that they partnered with bmw in development and that they want a 3 tiers of sports cars. ft-1, gt86, and a cheaper car that has not been released. Subaru has the ability to continue on themselves with the car so i'm sure they will.

Not really sure what toyota will expect out of BMW. Goodluck asking them to produce a car under the gt86 price point. Let alone a sports car, not sure if bmw wants their logo baged on something that will be made with cheap products to save costs to meet the three tier design.

The only positive I see about this bmw partnership is quality of materials used, of benifit to the real possibility of a $55,000 FT-1.

Subaru has them beat with reliability, sports cars for the masses. Bmw is notoriously expensive especially when it comes to sports cars.

I think they should keep the partnership with subaru, and have BMW help them with the FT-1. And maybe nissan with their lowest tier car, seeing as how they were fixed on a gt86 competitor anyway.
