Here is the first video of the mysterious Toyota GT 86 that we showed you yesterday. Given the Toyobaru project was originally designed to be a budget sports coupe for driving enthusiasts, the carbon fiber hood, large air intakes and massive rear wing definitely caught our attention. Our friends at TouriClips filmed a minute and a half of video footage showing the GT 86 prototype in action. This car is definitely something special. But figuring out what is going to be a tricky exercise of educated guesswork. GT 86 chief engineer Tetsuya Tada recently said an updated 2016 model year caris being developed with a more powerful engine. However, this hardly seems like a production car. It's got more in common with the endurance race machines that Gazoo usually fields during the Nürburgring 24 Hours. We might thus be looking at a club sport race car, like the IS F CCS-R built by TRD – turn key motorsport for the enthuziasts. With extensive modifications to the body and increased aerodynamic downforce, customers could experience the ultimate boxer-engined, Toyota-badged adrenaline injection within the next year. The Japanese automaker already offers an entry-level sportscar called the GT 86 CS-V3, designed to comply with the V3 class of the VLN championship. Speaking of Lexus, it too has made a hardcore car for the track, the LFA Nurburgring Edition, designed to set record lap times. After its debut, two mysterious LFA prototypes emerged for more testing, even sparking rumors of a turbocharged V8, which proved to be unfounded. Source: Autoevolution.com What do you say ? Did you know that there's a convertible on the way? And also the BRZ is ending production? And a turbo version is in the works?

Excited for the 4 door 2 seater coming out
They're actually gonna give us an updated AE86.
Word is, it will be a Toyota/Subaru collaboration with a boxer engine and styling modeled after the 2000 GT. |
Toyota has also officially announced already that the 2016 model FR-S will feature a new trim level equipped with a twin turbo 2JZ-GTE.
I heard it will start around 44k and will be available beginning Late August. Only 500 will be made too :(
And I heard the new Scion Supra will be coming out with a BMW motor

Pretty sure they're releasing and new AWD FRS under Toyota's name using BMW's X-Drive system in 2017
Too bad it's riced out, would be interested in seeing it with painted panels.
The next generation GT86 will be a flying (well, hovering) car.
SOURCE: Toyota Hovercars The new FR-S will, of course, be a cheap stripped down version that looks like the real thing but doesn't actually fly. Subaru will develop a separate line: the SubmersiBRZ which will have dual waterjets and be almost, but not quite, watertight. |
OP is just contributing and sharing news. grow up people...
