FT-86 to be released as a SCION??
Hey everybody im new here and this is my first post but i would like to share with you the information given to me from the future brand manager for scion Canada john scott when i asked him if they offer cash rebates and the ft-86 release and this is what he had to say....
Hello, Toyota does offer rebates on cash purchases on certain vehicles. The FT-86 is a concept vehicle that would probably come out under the Scion brand name not Toyota. The Scion brand is coming to Canada this September 28th. With it comes the TC coup which is in direct competition with the Genesis coup. The Tc is made by Toyota in Japan and is one of the most popular vehicle in the US . Moreover, it has won the Kelly blue book award for best resale value 3 years in a row and has been redesigned for the 2011 .In addition, we think it will come out with a price of $21,000 to $22,000 ( which will be extreamly competitive), but we don’t have any prices as of yet. If you’d like more info concerning this or any other model please feel free to contact me, or you can check out my fan page on facebook under the name Spinelli Scion. My very best regards, John Scott Future Brand Manager for scion. This doesn't convince me... I still think, it's gonna come out on Toyota
|
I looked it up. Scion IS coming to Canada! I doubt the FT/R-86/S will be a Scion though, as the 'future brand manager' thinks that the tC and Genesis are direct competitors (NA 4 cyl FWD Scion = Turbo 4 cyl or NA V6 RWD Hyundai??? Retard...) but still...
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Canadians have been deemed stupid enough to buy re-badged Toyotas, again... Seriously Toyota. Just kill it already. Expanding to Canada isn't going to create a magic amount of sales for that over-marketed brand. |
I really hope this is not true but i recently read some where that the ft-86 production model will be priced at around 16,000 usd, which is very scion like. I would like to add that the price mentioned in the original post is in canadian dollars so, again that seems to correlate with what was published recently about the ft-86's price.
I like the rest of you really really hope this is not true. |

My melodramatic 'no' wasn't about the car being a Scion. (NOT. GOING. TO. HAPPEN.)
But about the fact that Scion is expanding into Canada. Fucksakes... |
scion is coming to canada and the new tc is coming out in nov, but its not the ft-86. after a talk i had with jack hollis (scion vp), he made it clear that scion would have some new concepts, maybe new model to reveal later next year though (other than the iq). i highly doubt it would be the 86

I can see it now scion FR
|
I saw a post from a japanese mag where they said they're making a cheaper, smaller, hatch FR for 16k. I'm sure that's the one that will be scion. The FRS is going to be $25k for the bare base minimum.

Er... Canada can it as Scion badge, but The US doesn't want anything beside Toyota badge( maybe high end "LEXUS" make more sense).

I posted the same thread on ************* and WEST I think he is the main administrator and founder of ************* had to say this...
"Excellent find, and thanks for sharing! To the subject of his reply. I have a friend which is a regional Scion manager and he says the same thing, however he knows absolutely nothing about the FT-86 in comparison. He comes to me for information, I'm afraid Scion is working really hard to get the FT-86 released under the Scion brand, but it wont happen. The rumored price of 16k does fall within the Scion market, however bare in mind the FT-86 is currently being branded as Toyota to Japan, Europe, Asia, and Australia. I doubt they will release the same car as two brands, but alas we still have no official FT-86 debut within the in America/Canada; so be weary. It would surely be an idiotic move on Toyota's part to put such a staple throwback car under the Scion brand that is known for cheap economical boxes. I sure as hell don't want to drive a Scion, and if it happens; ill buy the Subaru. PS: Sorry I moved your post!" -WEST I think toyota needs to be warned if it is gonna go about doing this. Companies tend to listen to there customers; that is if they know what's for their own good:paddle:!! |
