Plenty of cars get discontinued...then are resurrected a few years later so everyone goes crazy and has to buy one.
Like the Camaro, Thunderbird....Mustang... |

Technically the Impreza WRX was infact discontinued. |
It only goes to prove my long belief that Subaru never wanted to make this car and Toyota dragged them kicking and screaming to do so.
The boxer engine is great but it's a shame Subaru can't dissect a Porsche or Cosworth engine and learn how to make a proper NA'd boxer. The relatively weak performance of aftermarket parts and tunes tells me the FA20 must have some shitty flowing heads. I can only imagine if it weren't for Toyota's D4S this thing would be rated at 180hp/130tq. Probably no better than a 20 year old Celica GTS. I'd like Toyota and Subaru to continue but it seems one or both have too much pride to maintain a professional partnership which is odd for the Japanese. If not, the next Miata, Bimmeryota or Honda will be here soon enough. Even if Subaru doesn't want the car, it has opened the flood gates for enthusiasts of non fat frozen yogurt lighter weight RWD. For everyone else, there's plenty of fat pig Breyers V8s to pick from already. |
maybe it will just like NSX, one gen last like 9 years.

I bought a '95 Tbird... discontinued in 1997. Bought my current Acura CLS in 2002, discontinued in 2003. Let's see what happens if I buy a BRZ  |
but i could see the BRZ & FRS having anywhere from a 6-10 year life cycle.

Be here now. Be present. Love the one you're with. Why worry about tomorrow when you have today AND an awesome car?

I've noticed that Toyota's D-4S engines only have variable valve timing but no electronic lift control (86, IS350, LFA). Quote:

I've read the paper that described D-4S technology which was co-developed by Toyota, Yamaha, and Denso. I think it was the paper that described the development of the Lexus D-4S engine. There's a PDF somewhere on the web. |
