2015 BRZ limited key fob

i know there is a new key fob designs for the 2015 models. has anyone attempted to swap their 13/14 fobs into the new 15?

this is something i plan to attempt, and i just wanted to see if anyone had the new fobs apart yet.

new fob:

88835CA310 (Could possibly be the right part number)
Production: 2014/03-Current
That's the most current number for the FOB's.

edit: I found a 2015 VIN online(JF1ZCAC18F9600218). Part number is the one I quoted above (88835CA310)

Retail is $199.99
Currently on back order. No ETA as of yet.

Huge amounts of WANT! Always thought the stock fob was kinda 'meh'.

I'm sure the fob is going to be at least $500 though :(

I like my 14' with the STI leather case, but keep us updated.

You take your fob out of your pocket to look at it?

Classy!

But I wouldn't spend more than a few bucks to "upgrade".

The keys are either on my nightstand or in my pocket 99.9% of the time.

i'm with you, I may not look at my key much but I would still like it to look better.

My fob stays in my pocket 90% of the day if I'm driving, this seems larger. I like the smaller version.

I doubt you can just swap the guts. I'm sure it has to be programmed to the car for a high price. You think it might use a slightly different transmitter? Like the signal intensity could be different from MY2013/2014?

I assume this would mean loosing the hidden key in the 13/14 limited fob? IIRC it was on the side and that one looks center.

Figured I'd share this since the 2015 Fob will likely be on backorder for a while, and for $7 this is a great alternative. If you don't looking at your key fob you can buy something like this
(Measure before you purchase to make sure you're ordering the correct size holder):
Carbon Fiber Key Fob Holder

It matches perfectly with the interior stitching as well. Here's what mine looks like:
Attachment 83090
Attachment 83091
Attachment 83092
Attachment 83093
