Singing noise

Singing noise
I just notice a new noise and was wondering if anyone else has heard it as well, at 70 mph there is a singing noise and I'm hoping it is but it sounds like it's coming from the hpfp. It only does it under light throttle. When you let off or give wot it goes away. I can just barely hear crickets at idle and really is not bad. It gets louder at 80 and higher. If it's not the hpfp I might really be sol.

what kind of singing? Celine Dion type or more like R Kelly?

wut?

"Singing noise?" What is a "singing noise?" Can you describe it better than that? It could be that your music is too loud.

I was thinking more of meatloaf, or Michael McDonald?

The noise is a high pitch whine or squeak but is not crickets, like a harmonic singing noise from a bearing or a pump. I would appreciate serious replies only. Thank you.

A high pitch harmonic singing noise, gotcha. Would you say from a female or male vocal?

Resonance from the door mirrors or something underhood.

I just remembered that my truck did something similar, I wouldn't worry about it.

Was messing with it on the freeway last night, it's not so much that mine 'goes away' under more throttle, it's covered up by the increased noise and throttle-off results in a decreased speed such that the noise doesn't occur anymore.

I think you're fine.

Thanks for the reply but I really think it's coming from the hpfp, I can control the noise with light throttle on and off at speeds 67mph and up. Just wondering if anyone else has heard it, I'm taking it into the dealer next but but I'm taking it on a trip this weekend. If it is the pump I should not have any issues since I have not heard of any of them failing yet just the noise issues, if it's not the pump I don't want to cause any progressive damage.

Someone a while back said they got resonance from their rear differential. Dealer diagnosis: replace the rear differential. Resonance gone.

But that was a different kind of singing. Probably barotone.

I've always noticed this at highway speeds. Always assumed it was the HPFP.

Is it at a specific speed, and does it go away under heavier throttle or deceleration?

Did you ever change your differential oil?

I used to have this "problem" with my Kaaz diff in my S13. It was a combination of the oil used + improperly set backlash.

Eagerly anticipating the new single coming out from your car. When is the expected release date?

I'm waiting to see who the FR-S relieves itself on first.
