RedlineGoods steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara - Review

3 Attachment(s)
I ordered @RedlineGoods wrapped steering wheel. I'm their first customer they are doing this for on a BRZ/FR-S. They've done many other car types, just not our cars yet for this particular item. I chose black Alcantara with a red Alcantara center stripe. The package came after 10 days. When I opened the well padded box the an oem steering wheel came already wrapped as shown in the pictures. The wrap job is great. Install was straight forward. The wheel also came with the silver trim piece, which I painted gold before installing the wheel to match the rest of my car interior pieces I've already painted gold. The Alcantara feels great on the hands. The quality of the job is great and I would recommend the @RedlineGoods wrapped steering wheel to anyone looking for a less expensive, yet high quality alternative to all the other wheels out there. Contact them on the forum here and check out all their offerings on their website as they are doing quite a few other parts now. http://redlinegoods.com/

To remove and install a steering wheel follow the following DIY which helped me a ton so thank you. :)

Something about that red stripe seems really off

Is redline using real alcantara now? Couple years back i got the faux suede shiftboot and ebrake boot from them when that was what was offered, theyve faded terribly.

As far as I can tell it is Alcantara.

Alcatara is artificial suede. Real suede fades and that's probably what they used (though it's technically higher quality)

Same here.
The parts that were folded in the shift boot were way darker.
It ended up looking like a damn cow.
It doesn't even get particularly hot where I live either.

But do you get sunlight where you live? Because UV rays are how you fade suede, not heat.

Barely.

I'm talking about maybe 3 months time at the most, in Oregon winter and it was horribly faded.

Started out decent.

That red on the door was just some cheap JoAnn fabric crap that ended up lasting much longer than the alcantara pieces.

Not knocking their customer service or their other leather products though, since both of those were great. Their alcantara just sucked.
They sent me a free leather boot after sending them the pic of cutting the old boot.

At the time it was labeled as some sort of synthetic

Yes, introducing geniune Alcantara into our was mainly due to its longevity and sunlight resistance - genuine Alcantara(TM) hold really well against sunlight, dampness and friction so, apart from leather and suede, it is the only reasonable choice for steering wheel application.

Take care
