You guys are so finicky... I've never heard a more bitchy and whiny group of people. You nitpick about the smallest god damn things.

What is this wonderment thing that people have about shark fins? I always thought the BMW's looked stupid with their fins, but the FRS/BRZ is f-fin ridiculous. It's just a hollow mold stuck on top of the antenna base to "dress it up". The only reason a finlike antenna is ever needed is for satellite radio which is a bunch of cross marketing BS.


I'm not whining but the FRS fin looks like Cr@@p!

Rather have the TRD shark fin, I like the longer, lower lines it gives the car...

Some people love the look of this car and are planning to buy one. So when they see downgrades in appearances, it's disappointing. And besides, this is a forum and a thread about the 2015 model impressions - so I think it's appropriate to voice our opinions.

I am also one that is disappointed with the cosmetic changes. That antenna kind of ruins the sleek and sporty profile of the car in my opinion. It just looks so out of place. It needs to be lower profile. And the fake carbon fiber dash is so ricey. The old T patterned dash looked perfectly fine to me - it was dark and matched the pattern of the rest of the car. The only thing I might like about the 2015 is the shock/strut upgrade. But alas, I am going to try to wait for the 2016 models after all.

Is the antenna just for the radio or does it do something else? Like navigation

I was in a hurry so couldn't really get more pics, sorry guys. We didn't think to compare the new color (steel) to my buddy's 2013 (argento). Car was dirty anyway. The sharkfin doesn't look too bad in person.

Maybe the antenna is a Subaru parts bin sharkfin? It doesn't look that bad. Looks somewhat similar to the 2015 STI antenna:

Looks like JDM tips to me but theyre tucked in instead of flush to the bumper.

Of course it's the same sharkfin antenna. The car shares so much with the Impreza already...what's another few pieces at this point?

I drive a GT86 (i'm from Belgium, Europe) and these tips are not the same in size, here the tips are way more aggresive i guess, they even stick a bit out from the back! :) The ones on the '15 FRS are quite recessed :iono:

I removed the antenna rod on my GT86 and checked.
Radio was pure static noise, but the satnav in the Toyota Touch&Go head unit worked fine.
