Dump tube muffler, halp!
So trying to keep the noise level down, I switched to the Q300 for the axle back and it helped with pre-boost, 1k ~ 4k RPM's. But once that open dump tube opens up, all hell breaks loose. Doesn't matter what cat back exhaust I have.
I did some research online about muffling the dump tube, rerouting it back to the exhaust etc. I really like the free flowing nature of the wastegate open dump tube, and not causing anymore pressure by re-plumbing it back to the exhaust. Has anyone put a muffler on the dump tube? If so, what muffler did you go with? Also will rerouting the wastegate exhaust gas back to the exhaust cause significantly more back pressure? |

On a 2.5" exhaust maybe if you are pushing significant power. I would say 300+ whp would be where you start to see restrictiveness. On a 3" exhaust no. Unless you are pushing more power. I would say 400-500 whp. http://www.modified.com/tech/modp-11...ust-test-tech/ What kit do you have? I would re-route it and later on look into getting a larger exhaust diam. |
Re route it.

Re-route it. A muffler is going to be restrictive enough to cause boost creep (it's all been done before...)

Recirculate it! You don't get the "all hell breaks loose" noise. It's civil, quieter and clean.
