Adjust camber/caster from top or bottom?

Looking at purchasing a set of Bilstein, (without top hats) and it's got me a little stumped as to whether to get a top hat or a lower control arm.

Pros for getting the LCA instead of a top hat
Much more adjustment range
Roll centre correction
Replaces the soft oem lca bushings

Price wise they work out about the same for me. Arguably the lca option is cheaper, because if I went top hat, I'd still have some lca bushings to replace.

So is there a more technical reason as to whether camber and caster should be made from either the top or bottom?

If I'm not mistaken adjusting from the top hat messes with SAI, which is the less ideal choice.

I would lean more toward taking advantage of adjustable camber AND caster so I vote upper mount.

You can do that from lower control arms.

Holy shiza, you guys really do have a badass platform with the LCA designed the way it is. I had to google that one.

Well then its a trade off of LCA bushing or upper mount compliance until you replace both. It probably doesn't really matter when considering (I assume) a mostly street driven car so get the LCA and forgo the aftermarket bushings and then get the upper mount when you can afford it later. It looks like the LCA will allow you to correct your RC when you lower it too.

Unfortunately that data means very little without camber gain in roll. Obviously you will never see zero roll when iterating through various steering scenarios.

Doesn't matter if you're adjusting from the LCA or the upper mount, the effect on SAI is the same.

The only way to add front camber without messing with it is at the knuckle (camber bolts, slotted struts)

And I guess you'll need an alignment if you adjust via LCA.

I highly recommend top hats. Do NOT buy the Whiteline ones. They pulled them do to many problems.

Unfortunately, many vendors are still selling them.

Currently, HVT would be your best bet for a top hat.

Not sure what your setup is. I'm on Konis with Eibach Pro Kit Springs.

You'll need an alignment either way. Changing camber will change toe.

I'm talking minor changes at a track event. Moving the lower pivot which also changes your track width would probably have a more drastic effect on toe.
