Alright here's an update.
Good and Bad. I used a TON of heat, and from the driver angle, 95% of scratches are gone. http://i.imgur.com/5JaqpYF.jpg?1 But from a low angle, you can tell I did overheat a section. It looks slightly warped. I'm not sure how it happened, since it looks like a diagonal crease. It doesn't feel weird, but I think the color changed. I think there's a support piece on the backside right there. I'm not worried about it since I'll never see it from that angle, but just wanted to share my experience. http://i.imgur.com/HxnilqV.jpg?1 I don't think I'll do the passenger side. I had to use high heat on my heat gun. And when I "quenched" it.. it steamed like crazy. The plastic was crazy hot. Not fun doing on a pretty new car. [edit] looking at before photos, I think that crease was already there and removing the scratches made it stand out. I bought the car used, so who knows. Either way, I wouldn't want to do this a lot. I feel like the texture will just get flatter and flatter. The old scratches look like "scars" like they would look like on your skin |
