E85 stations - ethanol %

Anyone have an ethanol content analyzer? I'm in San Jose and there are three stations near me, but I'm wondering how consistent the E% is for stations in the Bay Area.

I don't need to worry too much about fuel trims (N/A, OFT tuned). But this might also be useful for those who are boosted.

Was hoping someone found a station that consistently pumps like E70. Could get some better MPG... heh. I don't think the extra octane from E85 vs. E70 benefits N/A.

The Propel brand stations boast a minimum 70% ethanol content. So word on the street is that they are better/more consistent than the Pearson owned stations.

I've been filling up at the following stations over the past year (17,000+ miles):

-Chevron on Montague Expy near 880 in San Jose
-76 on N 1st Street near 880 in San Jose
-Valero on Whipple Ave near 101 in Redwood City

All are Propel stations and ALL have been absolutely consistent at 78-80% ethanol content year-round. I have the Zeitronix ECA.

I've filled up once at Sunol and that was right around 80% as well.

I got one of these.

It is not truly accurate. But it consistent. My local station tests e90. But my friends electronic analyzer shows about e77 to e80.

I don't bother testing before filling up anymore, my place has been consistent for a while. I only test when the fuel price changes or i have had a jug on the shelf for a while.

I have that glass thing too... and yes, I've seen 90 on that while the Zeitronix showed 80.
