perrin catback resonated - loud enough or too loud?

thinking of picking up the 3" resonated catback from perrin, i love the sound from what i've been viewing (or rather, hearing from videos), but my main issue is if it will be too loud in the cabin to hold a conversation?

if anyone has any personal experience, or can recommend anything else, i'd greatly appreciate it!

dont know about 3" but 2.5" is not loud enough by itself, but perfect with other exhaust mods and headers. nonres just sounds ricey with other mods as it gets a little too loud

Currently I am running only a 3' resonated catback from them and I think its great. Can hold conversations all you want in my opinion. To answer your question in the title, it is loud enough and no where near "too loud".

Anyone out here with the combo of a perrin 3' resonated cat and ft86sf catted UEL?

I like quiet. Have the 2.5 Resonated. Just heard the 2.5 unresonated catback only and it sounds very good. I'd say its basically brings out the best tone of the motor without being obnoxious.

I have the 3.0" resonated CBE with stock op/dp and it's perfect in my opinion. You can definitely hold a conversation and it's pretty quiet overall until hard acceleration. Even then it's quieter than other cat backs though. Sounds fine at highway speed too.

The Resonated 3" with Catless UEL headers, perrin overpipe and 3" catted front pipe is ok until you get the engine under any load. Going up hills or going WOT results in an exhaust volume that is definitely not condusive to holding a conversation in the car and full of rasp. Pretty annoying when on the highway with cruise control on and you start going up a slight hill while on the phone. :mad0260:

If you plan on just getting a catback you'll probably be fine. If you plan ANY other exhaust mods, get the 2.5".

I think the sound is perfect. It's smooth and low and not too loud. It sounds like what it should have come from the factory with. It's deep and mature sounding with just enough growl and bite. I absolutely cannot stand most aftermarket exhausts, and this one is great. I have a 2.5" resonated.

I have the 3.0 inch CBE with a resonated 3 inch front pipe. I think it's perfect. I drove it from Houston to Daytona and I personally think that it's a few decibels over stock. It's almost stock idling, but it sings when your running through the gears.

i have a resonated 3 inch cbe with a 2.5 inch catted front pipe and i think it sounds perfect i am also planning to get a catted uel header as well, however it is really loud when you start the car

Unless you're going FI get the 2.5.

I have the 2.5 unresonated and it sounds perfect, definitely not "ricey".

enjoyminutemaid 06-17-2014 12:41 PM

I have 2.5 resonated. I liked it before installing catted el header, but think it's too loud now when cruising on highway.

sluflyer06 06-17-2014 12:45 PM

3" is WAY oversized unless your going turbo or supercharger. 2.5 is far more than enough, I'd go resonated on any exhaust due to rasp and add additional exhaust pieces to increase volume as needed.

Don't see the reason for a 3 inc unless you plan doing FI later on in the road, Dezoris is FI and even he has a 2.5
