This might not be the most scientifically oriented test nor the best but nevertheless it is interesting ! :iono:

I watched this just after they posted it. I find it to be interesting. I would be really curious to see the difference between the same model intercoolers where one is anodized. I would also really like to see a hot compressed system as well as actual intake readings from a running car in various conditions to see how it really compares.

Time to paint

I was planning on painting the one that came with my JDL kit black, not a fan of the bling of the FMIC. Better to use radiator paint and not your standard spray paint.

interesting. If these claims are all true, for a DD car this will benefit everyone greatly. However, I'd like to see real life testings rather than just a hair dryer.

My IAT's are off the charts during stop and go traffic or waiting in line in Auto-X.

Like they mentioned the flip side of having the better emissivity is the black will also absorb heat from the sun, but chances are it's not sitting in direct sunlight most of the time.

I just like the stealth effect of the black IC, if it helps it work any better all the bonus.

Coloring an intercooler will have no effect on it. BUT you want it anodized, not just spray painted. Spray paint will block, annodize won't.

Did you watch the video? It's been shown for many things painting it black will reduce the temperature for a metal object just sitting. If you are moving air through it, doesn't really make any difference.

You won't clog/block anything unless you are terrible at spray painting and use the wrong paint. Even with normal paint as long as you paint it like they do in the video at angles and not straight on with a ton of paint, it isn't going to clog anything. They also make radiator spray paint which is thinner and also won't clog fins.

The test solely shows its regarding radiation and color, and a few light coats will not clog the fins. I did this only because i wanted a sleeper look, but @MAPerformance suggested we use a silicone based thingi that he can expand on

I know painting calipers red is good for +25 KW. Do they say how many painting your intercooler is good for?
