USB Hubs / Splitters

Hi there,

Quick question. Will USB splitters / HUBs work as they are supposed to in our cars? I am looking to have my iPod and Nexus 7 tablet plugged in simultaneously and there is only one USB port in the car (for us Canadians, it's in the glove box). Would like to have the iPod integration while keeping the tablet charged at all times.

Thanks

I think you need to google for a USB switch - they enable two computers (hosts) to connect to a printer or scanner(slave) but I would still be concerned that the claims apply to all operating systems and work under USB 1 and 2. Some clever tricks can be done with USB3 so be careful about buying (also if drivers are required - forget it). Google for two Linux computers sharing a usb device.

i have 1 in my car. i relocated my USB so its hidden. 1 of the splitters goes to my iPod for music and the other extends to where the 12v was in the center so i can charge my phone, but that 1 only does charging (due to the cable plugged into the splitter)
