Long trips in BRZ? Yes, its possible and fun ;)
Hi guys,
Yesterday I arrived to Le Mans from my home.. 1456km, 16 hours including traffic jam in Paris and Le Mans.. I was driving with my mate from 4am to 8pm. I was really afraid of this, but its was really cool.. I really love this car.. Now 24 hours Le Mans and back to home at Monday ;) On the other hand, I didnt see any other toybaru on the way or even here at Le Mans :( Best Roarke |
Oh yeah it is. I drove from Dover, DE to Las Vegas, NV in mine, about 2600 miles. Never had any complaints.
Enjoy Le Mans! |
I drive from San Francisco to Santa Barbara, 345 miles - 555km every friday.
get up at 4 am, work from 5:30 am to 3 pm, hope in my Brz and drive. I love the BRZ, real comfy, quite ride compared to my last car, very fuel efficient. |
This is good to hear, since I'll be picking up my new BRZ in Colorado next month and driving it 1600 miles home. In my test drive, I loved the seat and driving position, so I don't foresee any problems from those. But I was concerned that the cabin noise (both from road and engine noise) might get old after a while on the interstate.

I had my radio cranked the whole time, so I couldn't really tell you.
I will say: take the 12v accessory plug out of the glovebox. Then crawl down into the passenger footwell and peel the carpet back a bit; you'll see a hole through the firewall. That's the sound tube. Stick the plug into the hole. The sound tube transmits intake noise into the cabin for a more aggressive/racey sound. Which is fine, if you're being aggressive and racey. If you're doing a 1600 mile road trip, it'll probably get tiring. Once you get to where you're going you can decide if you want to leave it in there or not. |

Interesting that this precise subject came up in the most recent video review by the dudes at Everyday Driver, who did a Subaru shoot-out comparing the BRZ and the 2015 WRX on Southern California canyon roads:
http://everydaydriver.com/episodes/t...on-wrx-or-brz/ Their conclusion: they loved the BRZ on the curves, but preferred the WRX as a DD. Not surprising (or disappointing) to me, since I'm not buying a BRZ for its ability to sit in traffic at a stoplight. |
It wasn't bad to you? Not knocking the BRZ, It's by far my favorite vehicle I've owned. I'm only 23 and I drive an hour to school and back a few times a week. I must say once I get to school or once I get home. My back is killing me. Thinking about getting a pillow to put between the seat and my back.

I bought my BRZ as a wedding present to myself. Drove from Venice Florida to new Orleans on my honeymoon. Was a great ride. Comfy seats, nice nav system, only problem was for my wife. E-brake kept stabbing her in the chest. If you get my drift.

I drive long distances every week in this car. The third day I had it, I drove it twelve hours. I was in it for three hours just today and have a five hour drive Monday.

But a bigger issue for me is the effect of the stiff ride on my bladder. In a smoother riding car, I can go a lot longer between rest stops. But when I have to go, EVERY bump in this car is magnified. |

Haha yeah, I'm on coilovers, so my ride is twice as bumpier. I just remember not to have any drinks in the car. I can have a memory foam type pillow made. So i'm considering that option |

http://media.rd.com/rd/images/rdc/ma...ds-chart1a.jpg I would like to be able to lower or modify my suspension, but if I did I wouldn't be able to drive this car any more on these terrible roads. This is why my other car is a Jeep. http://i.imgur.com/67vhjmT.jpg |
Drove 12 hours straight in my BRZ on 2 occasions.. noise & comfort wasn't an issue for me, and I have intake/headers/over-front pipes. Hope to be able to take my car cross country on a 3-day trip one day :D

I did an 8 hour roundtrip to Chicago a few weeks ago, and it was a joy. Surprised my back never hurt at all and I was never uncomfortable. I love the seats. |
