How about recently (Jan/Feb 2014), all the heated seat recalls to make sure they don't burn the chair or start a fire? My wife works in Toyota Service Department, she sees all the recalls. They don't make the news most of the time because it's something minor, and that's how it should be.
The GM ignition switch thing wasn't minor, so the spotlight is very very bright on them right now. This keyfob thing for the Camaro is minor, affects a very small percent, if you consider 500k vehicles and 10-20 people having this happen (even though only 3 reported crashes, non-fatal). That's way less than 1 percent. Do you ever want any problem with a vehicle? Of course not, but this issue being less than 1% makes it a very minor issue. |
I'm just saying that all mass produced products will always have issues. Like Malave mentioned, it's in the spot light because of what happened with the ignition switches from the delta chassis models from 05 to 2010. I also remember when the power steering units in the cobalts, and HHRs where carping out. Pretty dangerous I might add, and I remember a couple of accidents. Funny thing is that mine went out, and I replaced it. Lo and behold it was a Denso electric motor manufactured in Japan. So before bashing do some homework. I've owned many cars from different manufacturers in my life, and they all have their quirks.

That GM uses part suppliers and not everything turns out perfect. Not To mention the way people abuse their cars and cause unforeseen issues. I've owned several Chevys that proved to be trouble free, safe and reliable over many years.. Not to mention how much fun and capable the cars were :party0030: |
