BRZ UK Head Unit Wiring

UK spec has a Fujitsu Ten AM/FM + CD + input from a USB socket and 3.5mm stereo jack at the bottom of the console at the opposite side to the start button. I've just taken the head unit out to start the fitting of a Kenwood Sat Nav.

I find the unit has a GPS square antenna socket into which is plugged what I best describe as a coax cable 5mm diameter. 6" back from the plug it becomes part of a loom the other part being the "USB wires" (run off towards the front of the car and incorporated into the 24 pin plug to the head unit). The loom runs down to the base of the centre console and as far as I can feel terminates at the USB socket. I can see no point in this GPS lead being fitted - have I failed to find the coax continuing to a antenna in the base of the roof radio antenna?

The other wire I was hoping to find was a splice off the orange/white reversing (back-up?) light circuit to trigger the rear camera. Searching the forums I've found that info in one thread and corrected 5 posts later by the author ("Sorry I thought you were asking about the parking brake") has been picked up and repeated across the forums. Is the definitive answer that you connect to it in the trunk or in connectors in the left side footwell?

Out of interest does anyone know the purpose of the 24 pin plug in the top of the dash between the instrument panel and the radio?
