Get Big! (door speakers)
As some of you may be aware, the design philosophy behind the Corvette and the GT86 are similar. Light-weight sports car with enough creature comfort not to offend the average consumer.
Well... the Corvette has an optional fancy pants Bose sound system. I got curious what Bose chose to include for the Stingray. Here's the layout: http://www.corvetteblogger.com/image...3/081313_1.jpg Here are the speakers: 1 x 3" (80 mm) midrange (dash center) http://image.mamotorworksmedia.com/i...pg&h=200&w=200 2 x 1" (25 mm) tweeters (dash left & right) http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/d/l225...8FJxR-zZXg.jpg 2 x 3" (80 mm) midranges (upper door) http://image.mamotorworksmedia.com/i...pg&h=200&w=200 2 x 10" (255 mm) woofers (lower door) http://www.trafficjamzcaraudio.com/w...nt-Install.jpg 2 x 5.25" (130 mm) woofers (rear fill) http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/Njk2WDkyOA...TTqd7/$_35.JPG 1 x 8" subwoofer in a 14L bassbox http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l225...d3tgf2wA1Q.jpg |
My point being... has anyone considering fitting gigantic woofers in our side doors?
The 10" Bose units seem like overkill, but that's a fine sounding factory sound system. What would be required to fit a low-profile 8" or 10" woofer in our doors? It looks like we have plenty of space: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1365667580 |
You might be better served to put a low profile 8 or 10 in the back seat quarter panel. The doors would require a fair amount of modification to fit it in there, and I don't think you could find a low profile woofer that would clear the windows.
