Absolutely no one was in front of him, and people couldn't pass on the right due to the speed of traffic in that lane. I got up behind him and honked after giving him a few minutes to either adjust his speed or move over, but he seemed indifferent to letting traffic pass and he just sat in that lane until I was finally able to pass on the right then he just slowly drifted to the right in front of me to block me - when I went around him on the left he was just holding up his middle finger like a true gentleman.

Total BS and I hate driving behind trucks, and he just made it so difficult with the other lanes being so congested and filled with other trucks. It drives me crazy that cops crack down on stupid BS like no front plate or tint when they could be cracking down on shit like that that legitimately causes traffic issues.

What many people don't understand is it's not just annoyance it's a really serious safety issue.. The rest of the other countries have their reasons to strictly enforce this.. I don't remember the times that I have to switch back to my lane when passing the car in the middle lane since another car was also passing the same car from his right.

The passing should only need to be done from left and this should become a habit..

Totally agree with you I try to pass on the left whenever I can but it's just too often that the right lane is actually the fast lane cause people are idiots

IN Washington and Idaho it is Illegal to stay in the Far Left lane unless passing. I am not sure what it is in Oregon though. Sorry.

Same here, I usually give the standard quick headlight flash to anyone who is squatting in the left lane (which for some reason in this area seems to translate into "fuck you"), then transition and pass on the right when possible and safe. I honestly think I end up passing on the right just as often as the left in this damn state.

People camp in the left lane everywhere, but back on the east coast at least they are good about moving over when another car comes up.

with that said, during my last visits to Oregon (ORP track events), I've noticed this sign

http://www.alldaycoffee.net/images/sthelens-litter.jpg

I think the wording could be a bit better..maybe something like "Please don't litter..Oregon State St. xx " or simply "Don't Litter" ..it actually sounds like "Go ahead ,, make my day PUNK!!" :)

I live & work within 5 miles of the WSP Training Academy in Shelton. I'll believe this when I see it, typically we get a new batch of green trainees every 6 months or so who get issued new cars and love finding new hiding spots so they can write Taxes...er Tickets, for speeding. Because its mindlessly easy and it keeps their infraction numbers where they are supposed to be. No one one is pulling SUVs and Prius's & old people over for numb-nutting the left lane. It's not a real thing.

They should invent a kick system like in video games. Use your phone to down vote a driver. Enough votes and a huge wrecking ball punts them out of the left lane.

Me too. Commission from tickets would be the ultimate incentive, as if there isn't already. I would guess I could exceed even the greediest officer in tips, hanging the radar gun over fences, under stalled cars, Go-pros everywhere, through bushes, stationary traffic cams. Nobody would be immune from prosecution and fines, not even the governor. Take those videos to court....................you lose.
Jay would have to bestow me the award of "WA State Top Revenue Generator".
:D. I could have a highway or mountain pass named after me:thumbup:
With the economy the way it is (and going), this state and local municipalities will do everything in their power to make up for lost property tax revenue. I don't think the authorities will necessarily focus on left lane squatters, but will deploy vigilant patrols throughout Washington roadways in the upcoming months/years to ensure revenue generation. I see it happening already.

My idea is that drivers should be allowed to use paint guns to "tag" offenders.
That way if a cop sees a car covered in paintballs he can just pull them over and issue a generic ticket for being a ****head.

"Sir.... I dont know WHAT you did, but you MUST be an asshole!"
