It is rather ironic that the far right hand lane is the "fast" lane. As long as you watch for merging traffic, there is less impedance there than any other lane.

RGP: Revenue Generating Policy

It's all about writing more tickets, not correcting the problem.

If they wanted to correct the problem they would install signs on the left side of the freeway stating: "Left Lane is the Passing Lane". Awareness is what's missing.

We see an article like this about every 2 years. I have yet to hear from anyone about a ticket ever issued for this. Cell phones, yes. Window Tint, yes. Seatbelt, yes. Never left lane squatting and they've supposedly been "cracking down" for half a decade or more!

I'd also like to see signs on on-ramps that say "Please be going the speed of traffic before you merge into it!" There's a reason they're called "acceleration lanes" in other parts of the world.

We HAVE those signs. Still doesnt work.

How many times have I heard the "squatters" say : "I dont care if I am in the fast lane! If I am doing the speed limit, then too bad! maybe you should try going the speed limit too!"

These people dont understand that they are by far in the minority and are trying to force everyone else to conform to THEIR version of justice by making the rest of us go around.

The FACT IS that in my state, if you have more than 4 cars behind you and you are holding them up you are in violation of the law for "inhibiting the flow of traffic" and can be given a ticket EVEN OF YOU WERE GOING THE SPEED LIMIT.

Even the local police would rather see a steady flow of traffic exceeding the speed limit than a line of road-raging pissed off people doing crazy shit to get around the ones "camping in the fast lane".

I wish I could agree with you on the not educating people proposition...but we have those signs all over the place in Oregon and still nobody follows them

Eh...
They need to start issuing tickets for this, not just give out warnings.

I hear Hyper-miling is a rampant disease in that state.

I actually saw the signs for that but I think the problem is they don't include that in driver license test..I don't think people just don't care most of the time people don't even use their inside mirrors..in many European countries if you neglect to check your inside mirrors say every 10 seconds you fail the test .. :)

Don't really agree about the Prius part. I got cut-off by speeding Prius before. But it's Dallas though lol.

kiichiro 06-09-2014 05:22 PM

Prius should be limited to right lane, or better, shoulder

glamcem 06-09-2014 05:30 PM

I have no issues with Priuses or Leafs ( I actually drive my wife's Leaf every once in a while and you'd be surprised how responsive that thing is ) as long as they use the left lane as a passing lane :) ..off topic but if it wasn't for a sport car I would never own a gasoline car I guess..since that technology is so outdated :)
