TSB Vin Number

Of course I'm asking because I have a sound....

Considering that's a Subaru bulletin for American market I'm not sure how useful it is to you.
But I'll assume it is. What that statement means is that vehicles produced AFTER that VIN should not be affected. In other words, vehicles with a higher number are 'safe', vehicles with a lower number are potentially in need of the service. Serial numbers generally do not follow production numbers identically in this day and age, there can be many different meanings behind them, maybe 100 were screwed up and scrapped, maybe there was a production change and they skipped 1,000 to denote the difference, maybe those starting with 3,xxx,xxx are for a specific market. Edit: I'm bad at math, MVJ is right, if you assume the VIN numbers are the same region to region your number is AFTER the change was introduced. However if you are having the issue a good dealer will try to fix it anyway, notifying corporate that the problem still exists. |
Actually, they're fairly close, but he's not reading that VIN correctly. The 6 is just a preceding digit that indicates it's a BRZ; the 02788 is the actual identifier for the car.
This TSB only concerns the first 2787 North American BRZs. European VINs are different. |
VINs aren't always sequential. That's the short answer.

VINs aside, he can easily rule whether the TSB would apply to him or not by looking at the plate on his door jamb. If his car was made after July 2012, his car already incorporates the fixes, if not, he's possibly covered by this. Build date is on that plate (as an example, mine is March 2012, so the Toyota version of this TSB - if it existed - would apply to my car).

Hi, can you elaborate a little on this? Where exactly should I look to find the build date? Thank you |

Open your driver door. Towards the back of the car where the door covers you should see at least one sticker. The stickers have a lot of information like recommended tire pressures, build date, VIN, where it was built, etc. http://toyotahachiroku.files.wordpre...614-164845.jpg |
Hum... ok, I had in fact looked in the right place, it's just that my sticker (French GT86) is somewhat different that yours... bad thing is that "mfd in" doesn't appear, good thing is that some other interisting stuff does :
