Replicating Abarth exhaust note

I find that sound to be quite arrousing.. :bonk:

Anyone no how it is achieved? What parts combination can get a similar exhaust note on the twins?

A turbocharged 1.6L engine?

It is a great sound, but the best you'll do is UEL header boxer rumble. IMHO a boxer motor isn't going to ever sound like an inline motor.

Funny, I had researched the same thing about the 500 Abarth. It's such a nice exhaust note. 1.6 turbo, with minimal exhaust mufflers from the factory. Reminds me of the Neon SRT in stock trim.

easy

abarth swap

Akrapovic exhaust would probably be the closest note. But they haven't made one for the Twins. Akrapovic does wonders for cars.

Wow I've never heard what that car sounds like. I've heard plenty of people talk about how good the exhausted sounded but never bothered to look it up.

Well I just did, and wow it sounds almost identical to an SRT-4! Wonder if it has the same pops and burbles when you let off the gas like the SRT does

Yeah, I never got the 500 exhaust love. It sounds like exactly what it is, unmuffled 1.6l inline with a little less rasp than you'd expect because of the turbo.

Its easy to get that sound...just remove your cams and install solenoid opperated valves instead ;)

Or SRT-4 swap ;)

I often day dream about pulling my 400hp motor out of my SRT and dropping it in my FRS. Oh the fun I would have lol

Yes, that is exactly how one should go about getting an abarth exhaust note.

Buy an Abarth. It will probably be your cheapest route to go too :P

Sell FRS/BRZ and buy a Porsche?

Funny but I was in the GF's Abarth a few months ago at Diamond Jamboree in Irvine and a Porsche C2 pulled up along side. I kid you not, the exhaust was note for note identical to the Abarth. We got into a little rev competition, it was hilarious his white Porsche vs her white Abarth both barking at the line.

I've seen people take apart the full Abarth exhaust looking for the secret to the sound. One important factor was that inside the muffler jacket was essentially a straight pipe! (as in no muffler at all). Harmonics along the rest of the intake/exhaust track, I have no idea about.
