Missed you out there, @TEWwild! As always, we had a fast and safe run. Very few motorcycles and only an occasional bicycle rider or two. All the aggressive twistie stretches were WOT. @AteMyShorts did a great job setting the pace for us! We did have some wet road conditions on the way to Medina but, everything dried out pretty quick. The early rain may have contributed to having light traffic on the run!

Saw a golf ball sized rock or two on a couple of the falling rock cliff sides easily visible and avoidable. The usual loose gravel on the recently chipsealed spots/curves on 336 and the beginning of 335. Traction was good on these but, it was obvious the rocks were flying on those occasions and this pic below is what happens when following a tad too close when the rocks are shooting out from the car in front of you!

@Dustin The next big biker meet in Bandera will occur on the weekend of Sep. 20. I haven't found anything online where any large motorcycle or bicycle meets will be occurring when we'd be out there on Aug. 9th doing the Sisters. Barring bad weather, we should have a great run - road conditions will likely be like they were yesterday: Light traffic / fast driving / few slowdowns = FUN.

Anyone know a decent priced hotel location within that area? We are thinking of coming Friday evening. :)

I'm doing the same thing. I'll be looking for one today. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Found this. Got 8.1/10 with 44 reveiws. Pretty cheap and fairly close to where we are going. I think I'm gonna try here. I'm not looking for anything fancy just to spend the night. There are others that are cheaper but the reviews are lower.

Splitting a room would be the cheaper route just have to find someone willing to do it, $80 before tax will make it about $86 so it would be $43 per person... Just saying it's a good idea haha

Ramster 06-17-2014 01:19 PM

I'm planning on being there so far

Also for anyone running E85, I'm putting a map together with all the E85 locations around the area so if you time it right, you should be able to get to San Antonio with no problems and the Three Sisters as well.

Here's what I have so far.
