I was coming back from Annapolis to PA, pitch black outside.
You know who's out that time of night.

I was about a mile away from my house which is pretty much buried right next to the woods. I'm mid corner with the woods to my right (~2 feet, tight backroad but the only route home) and can't react fast enough. I've tangled with deer before and the firestorm only had a scratch from the last ordeal (think I tagged its jaw, had oodles of time to react though, 2 lane road).
Looks like I lost this round, repairs will be done by the 11th (this happened a while ago but I've been swamped with work). No airbags, burst windshield, etc. I consider myself lucky, I've known people to end up way worse. My only advice, DON'T PANIC.

Did you end up killing it? If so, did you take it home?

First, I'm glad you're not hurt. Second, repairs seems to be extremely fast, a week from now, it'll blaze by.

I HATE THIS CURSE!!! I've been driving for 16 years. I have NEVER had an accident until this car! It wasn't even my fault! Glad you are okay! Looking forward to pics of it all pretty again!

If you didn't kill it from the impact I hope you at least knocked it unconscious so you could *ahem* deal with it man-to-deer.

Glad you're okay though. That blowsssssss

Repair time seems almost impossibly fast... i mean, do they keep an FR-S in stock as a parts car?

ZionsWrath 06-05-2014 08:31 AM

Did he died?

OrbitalEllipses 06-05-2014 12:09 PM

Wait, again?

Don't know if I killed it or not, probably limped off somewhere.

I once had a deer hit me in the middle of town. Bastard crapped on the side of the car and ran off without exchanging insurance. I was doing about 25mph.. Sometimes there's no avoiding it.

My tangle with the curse.

I am happy that D4S is ok, and his car is being repaired, but I had a close call with a deer last week when I was driving home from filling up my gas tank. I was cutting through a neighborhood and the just darted from a driveway during one of my favorite S curves. I slammed on the brakes and literally stopped in about 5 feet. I had a soda in my cupholder that was thrusted forward due to the effect of the emergency stop and spilled all over me and the front of my car. I am still cleaning coke from my center console. The car stopped with such force that my backseat came down from the up position, but it may have been due to the seat not being fully locked in place. I am lucky that nothing happened to me or my FR-S that night. :sigh:

Get a dash cam. Then you can sue the deer.

FRS_Ken 06-05-2014 02:22 PM

If they'd just stop putting up those signs, then the deer wouldn't cross there... lol
Glad you are OK!
