Not sure my man. Just makes sense to me. There are very well educated people in this forum that can chime in. That's why I mentioned that as a possibility.

This is why I love the community here so much. I've learned a lot but still have way more to learn

I just dropped it off at the dealer for my 15k service. I was lucky because we was cool about it. He even listens to the videos and said he would investigate. And I told him to look for metal shavings in the oil like mentioned before. Well see what he has to say when they call me in a few hours

Got my car back from toyota today. While it was there they heard my crickets and replaced my fuel pump.

They had their mechanic who owns like 10 Subarus and is considered the "Subaru guy" work on my car. He said he was pretty sure the clanking was coming from the high pressure fuel pump as well. We shall see...

It's too bad because I was planning on running e58 but @Mr 286 story has me hesitant. Not to mention the dealer I bought the car from offers an unlimited power train warrrenty. So pretty much the entire time I plan to own the car. It's pretty hard to convince myself to throw on a few bolt ons and a tune if I'm chucking the unlimited warranty out the window.

..first world problems : (

I was hoping for good news OP. I had my fuel pump replaced on the recommendation of service advisor some time ago, and honestly I'm not sure I'm happy that the dealership took my car apart at all especially now that the engine died. It made no difference. It'll be a month that it's been down in a few days so I'm still waiting to see how it turns out.

I've never heard anything like this before so if anyone has experienced this before and has some insight please share and enlighten me :)

I'm completely stock.

My car sat the whole week while I was away. Last night I drove it to a friends house. I left about 7hrs later. Started the car and was just letting her warm up a little and heard this exact noise for 10 seconds before I hopped out of the car, to listen under the hood. Couldn't hear anything. Not sure if it stopped or what. Never heard it before.

I drove home and gave the car a good trashing to see if I could make the noise. Absolutely nothing. I'll report back here if I hear this noise again.

It's been two weeks since I brought my car to get serviced. They replaced the fuel pump while I was there and they said that that was the cause of the strange clanking as well.

The chirping is now back again. And it's twice now started clanking and rattling again on two separate occasions in that two-week time period.

I'm honestly just waiting for the engine to blow. Getting pretty fed up with this car

Good news is you're still covered under the warranty if something happens.

Very True, that's the only thing that's keeping me feeling somewhat ok.

I'm following you're engine failure thread.. Looks like you've move on to subjectively greener pastures. Or I guess I should say more problem free pastures. You're driving a camery now?

Going out on a limb but I've heard that kind of sound from a sloppy cam chain tensioner, no?

Deferring to Dezoris' observation. I have only a couple months on this engine so my ears perk up to every little sound like a yorkie terrier.

Yes, and I love it. I'm not really missing out on the FR-S's sports car handling here in Vegas. I mean, this city is a flat grid of streets for the most part, and I rarely ever explored its capabilities.

People slammed on me for being critical of the car reliability-wise after suffering several issues and an engine failure lol I mean, how did they expect me to feel about it? One of my best friends runs a full service and performance auto shop here in town. I've seen many cars take hits harder than mine did and they're still running today on original engines, including one of my first cars. I will probably miss FR-S when I visit my brother's place in Romona, CA. Climbing those hills on the way to his house is like a touge.

May have herd something similar today but not sure??? Came to a stop after cruising for a stretch on a highway at about 65 and I hear a sound I never herd before, wife looks at me and says was that a tractor? May have been another car beside us but not sure, never herd it again after that today and the car ran fine. Only have 800mi on the car but keeping my ears open now...

Tractor noise happened again coming to a stop. Not as loud now as the resonator has been removed feeding engine noise into the interior...
