Tein Review

I wasn't all that happy with the handling of my keyring so I thought I would upgrade the suspension. After much research I realised that there wasn't that much on offer so I went with Tein as they're a known quantity. Like many other reviews I can't really offer a comparison to other brands. I would have liked to have bought a JRZ or Penske unit but the fact is they don't have a comparible model to suit my keyring. I use my keyring for both daily driving and track use. Ideally I would have separate dedicated units but I couldn't justify the additional expense or be bothered swapping the shock before and after a track day.

Install was a doddle and would take even an inexperienced handy man/woman/gendernotspecific only a few seconds to fit though you do run the risk of chipping a nail so you might like to wait until after fitting before applying that fresh coat of nail polish :)

My impressions so far are a little mixed.
On the positive side the handling of my keyring is much improved. It absorbs bumps much better than stock. Now when I'm sitting in a cafe besides reading or playing a game on my phone I have the option to tweak the ride height and preload with the supplied tools. The C spanners even have the Tein logo stamped into them which is a nice touch and shows where development costs have gone. It is a great example of miniaturisation.

On the negative side it adds a little bulk to the keyring but as we know everything's a compromiseŽ. Also there is no damping adjustment. Actually, there is no damping. I wasn't able to find any mention of servicing or an overhaul kit. There are no spring rate options so this mod may not be suitable for all keyrings. There are no bushes so there might be an increase in nvh.

This is a great example of "you get what you pay for". I paid for it, I got it.
Overall I think it is a great mod as it adds a little interactive interest to my keyring.

For those of us that do not have the Push Start, will this put more strain on the ignition switch? You know.... do not want to hit a bump and cause the ignition switch to act up and turn my car off while cruising down the road.

"Well this should be interesting." I wasn't disappointed.

Any "bounciness" ...a confused and misused term with 1 million definitions.

I have some forged pistons on my keyring...hmm wonder if I should do a review

Thanks for writing this review. I was not firm on which setup I wanted, but I think Tein is the way to go. For anyone who is on the fence, they should definitely spring for these. Its tough to dampen my enthusiasm for this product.

I think that's enough puns.

Seriously, though: hilarious review.

Can we get a more detailed DIY please?
A video would be great!
Squady is going to come and help me with the install so I will leave the follow up questions to him.

These are not pressurised so they can NOT be mounted inverted.
