Factory Five 818

Have any of you guys seen these? Similar to the Exocet I posted before, these are kit cars. Here they use a WRX as a base to build a light, mid-engine, RWD roadster. Pretty interesting!

Someone posted that a while back, i believe the guy was serious, was going to purchase one.

It's interesting...but these don't bear much fruit to me.

I've wanted to build one since they started releasing stuff about it. Man it would be a fun toy.

I haven't seen one, but I've been following it since it was an idea on paper. Shame about the final vehicle design they picked though. Some of the entries were far better IMO.

I was very close to pulling the trigger on one. Unforunetly, I didn't get on it early enough and the waitlist was over a year. I even had my wrecked auctioned WRX picked out and was ready to bid $4000 on it. It is still at the top of my kit car list with the $10,000 plus donor starting price and 918 kg weight.

No AC is the reason I backed out.

This looks like lots of fun, but I don't like the EJ20. No AC doesn't really bother me, the number of times I've turned the AC on in my MR2 is probably less than 10.

I enjoy stuff like no AC and stiff motor/trans/diff mounts. It adds to the go-kart appeal.

This is because you don't live in Florida. It would make the car a three month per year car, at best.

Yea I'm a spoiled Norcal brat. Those Socal people claim their weather is better, but down there AC is required for a good portion of the year whereas here it's not (and neither is the heater, if you're not a socal wimp). I only turn on the AC on summer days when it's over 90F, the sun is beating down on the car (too cheap to put window film on my car), and I'm stuck in traffic so the air coming through the vent is even hotter, which doesn't happen often thankfully. With 3M crystalline window film and silver or white instead of red paint, I could probably tolerate no AC on any day.

Come on Dave. It has 2x55 A/C and it is a roadster although I would buy the optional hardtop. It has to be better than riding my Ducati to work today in jeans and a leather jacket.
