I couldn't justify the cost of winter tires for 3 or 5 days of real winter...
I'd be up for grabbing a coffee or an informal meet anyone who's got their car out is welcome

Slartibartfast 03-26-2013 02:55 PM

Going to be calling the storage place today to see if I can get my car out. It's in a barn with 40 other cars. I hope nobody is blocking the door.

Will you be changing your tires yourself or take them to a shop?

I was really hoping to get the dealer to change them over on my first oil change but that's still 2000km away and with the weather like it is today I really don't want to wait another few weeks or so.

I do my own in my driveway. I have a small jack, 2 stands, wheel chocks, electric impact and torque wrench :)

I'd be willing to help you out if you want but I'm going to be out of town till Monday April 8th :(

Haha sure! It's a small driveway though, my equipment is mobile if anyone needs to use it but my driveway is available as well!

Lenore is out! Damn, I've missed going sideways!

ScottishJedi 03-27-2013 09:42 PM

Welcome back to the fun zone Slartibartfast! All and all it's been no problems driving this winter (other than the once a week wash) there were a few OMG moments but nothing that having our kinda fun doesn't prep you for for anyhow :)

Welcome back. Still paranoid about switching to summers quite yet. Want to so badly. I think I missed a good deal at Canadian Tire for both a torque wrench and hydraulic jack. Will have to just bite the bullet and pay $30 to switch in another week or two.

Honestly dude I've been running my summers all winter with as I said little to no issues granted I have a 6 min commute to work (takes me longer to go through Tim's drivethru than drive to work) you should be good to swap any day now :)

Slartibartfast 03-28-2013 02:34 AM

With temps below +5 degrees it's better to stay on the winters. Summer tires are too hard below that. Mind you, it does help you get the back out more easily, if you're into that.

Jedi is nuts (but he knows that already... jk)

Says the guy who took his car out yesterday (and I'm assuming still has the stock summers on it). :bonk:
