That's amazing! I'm going to have to hit them up for some HIDs I think. I got an awesome deal on kijiji 4 winter tires with winter alloys for $400. 16" with a 42 offset I believe. Off of an old WRX.

Nope, She's still tucked away in bed for winter. Storage is paid until the end of April, but as soon as the weather is looking like its going to stay positive, I'll bring her out.

Firestorm FRS parked next to my wife's IQ at Blackberry! That little IQ just loves hanging with its FRS sisters!
Anyone here?

thorlius 03-11-2013 07:54 PM

That was me! Tell her not to park over the line (past the spot). It's already a small car and when you look down the garage lane, it looks like an open spot until you've driven right up to it, which can be pretty enraging when you find out it's actually taken. Middle of the parking spot would be fine. :P

I'm in there every day and see the car there most days. You should let her drive your car at least once so I can have a buddy in the garage. ;)

That's never gonna happen....firstly I hate trying to reset my seat and mirrors (damn OCD) and secondly she can't drive manual transmission and I'm not about to teach her in it. Besides she had the option of buying a FRS and chose the IQ

Wow! How can anyone after looking at the FR-S, say, I'd rather have an IQ. I can see how price can be a factor and I can see how a person might want FWD, but, really, just look at the FR-S.......the decision should be obvious. No disrespect, but, just comparing the looks, I know which I would (also read "did") pick. Even if you take the Auto, it is far better than an IQ.

thorlius 03-12-2013 10:18 AM

Performance isn't a main concern for a lot of people. Price, fuel economy, longevity/reliability. The iQ should have all that, and it'll fit in any parking spot, plus some made up ones.

That said, in the interest in maintaining civility, I'll leave it at that and just refrain from posting my personal feelings on tiny cars. ;)

Thorlius,
Glad you posted this now, I had to reset mine last night.

The window stuck and when it did, it started flashing. I gave it a little motivation and then lowered the window and then it wouldn't go back up. Wasn't looking forward to driving home with the window open.

Remembering the correct sequence/procedure was the only tough part. I have a good memory, it's just short. Almost opened the ft86club website on my BlackBerry when I eventually got it to reset.

:thanks:

Glad to've helped.

I had the same issue twice again this week and have had it happen probably more than ten times this winter. I've had to use different variations (ie resetting the driver side switch only, then reaching across and resetting the passenger side with the passenger switch) throughout the year as well.

Seems like nobody else is really having the same issue. Or at least near the degree I am. *shrug*

brmillercc 03-15-2013 03:51 PM

I've had that issue quite a few times this winter, including twice this week. The dealer said it's bound to happen when the weather is like this. wet + cold weather = stuck windows. He showed me when I bought the car how to fix it but I still end up having to try half a dozen variations of the fix to get it to work.

Yesterday I washed my car with the passenger window down 1/4" because of this and some water got in... Didn't notice until I was done.

Have also had the problem many times this winter. Probably close to 10-15 times....oddly enough, not lately!

Question though....when your engine is running (at idle or when moving) is there a ticking nose (and I don't mean the chirping crickets)?

Long story short, I took my car in to the dealer back in the fall, because the ticking noise seemed to be louder (didn't know if this was the 'cricket' issue or not)....they told me it was typical FR-S engine noise. Over the last few months this noise has started to become higher pitched....sounding exactly like all the videos and descriptions I've seen posted! This evening I was running errands and it was painfully annoying! I have the TRD exhaust on so it was somewhat hard to hear while driving, but when idling at red lights, god it was awful! I'm taking the car in first thing Monday morning, and I'm praying they don't tell me "typical engine noise" again!

I realize the 'ticking' I originally heard is normal, but back in the fall it was quiet loud, and seemed unnatural for a brand new car (received Aug. 1). But it also wasn't a constant noise and would countlessly disappear and reappear!

Any feedback would be great! I did take a video incase the dealership says they can't hear the noise....I've read waaaaay too many posts about this to not go prepared lol

Are you using ethanol-free gas? I've heard the injectors don't like ethanol. Shell as far as I'm aware is the only gas in the area that is ethanol free (their 91 octane).

djdnz 03-16-2013 09:51 AM

There are service bulletins at least in the US for the crickets - if you show them those they won't screw you around. They might not fix it if there aren't bulletins in Canada yet (I dont know, I haven't been following since I have been cricket free using Shell 91 so far) but at least you have proof the issue exists and is fixable.
