From what has been said in the other threads here, it's the ethanol in combination with the direct injection that causes the crickets. Why that is I don't know, and I'm not too sure if anyone has really figured it out (I don't follow a lot of threads that closely unless it's here or the Track/Autocross section :slap:).

The thing that I do know about ethanol is it acts as an octane booster. The Shell 91 without ethanol is essentially a pure 91 octane, where as those with ethanol is a "boosted" version (for lack of a better term - you know, octane booster). My tuner actually told me that I should be running 91 in my track car as it has much better power potential than Petro 91. I haven't really tried that since I did get that car tuned on the Petro (7cents off per litre ftw) but for my BRZ, I'm actually curious to see if there's a mileage difference (supposedly 91 gets better mileage). So as I said before, this Shell 91 vs Petro 94 (and eventually 91) is an experiment just to see if there are any benefits of each.

I am sure it would be an awesome experience, but, at the rate that I am going I probably won't be done my break in period (having this car makes me wish I had a longer commute (I only live less than 10 minutes to my work)).

45km/day and you're there. Less actually, as it's about 170km to Mosport.

There... you have no choice now. Now go get a helmet and I'll see you there.

I think we need another meet soon since we are getting quite a few drivers in the tri-cities!

Agreed!

This time with food and "beverages" involved perhaps? :happy0180:

Thorlius & Fishbone... Any ETA yet?

I've been counting the days since I ordered the car. Today is day 59. And the answer continues to be "no ETA". :mad0259:

My sales rep has still only contacted me once in this time span, but I've at least went back and forth with Nick Heffner via email, which is fine by me. "Next allocations hopefully" (and that I'm second on the list) is all I'm being told, but he isn't giving any hints about timelines for allocations...

Hang in there. It's worth the wait. On the positive side, think of the money you're saving on payments! jk

You could start getting accessories for when the car arrives. I hear there's a back order on fuzzy dice. You should put your order in now.

Ouch, sorry, that was like twisting the knife.

Yeah, except the payments on my trade-in are considerably higher than the payments on the FR-S will be, so I'm actually paying MORE by waiting. The only difference is - as long as they don't try and change my trade-in value (I haven't driven the car more than a couple hundred kms) - my negative equity that carries over should be lower.

I have one thing already (the Tap Turn module), and am now making a list of stuff I want to get later on. I've almost been tempted to grab a couple more things. It's tough to resist, but I've managed so far.

The Flossy shift knob I got is the best upgrade I've done so far. LOVE the weight. It completely changes the shift feel. It's about a 4 week wait for it.
I'll likely get the Perrin pulley next.

It's on my list. Saw some threads here after seeing the one in your car and I was sold.

But....I would still come out if you guys are having a meet so I can live vicariously through you guys until I get mine. I'm mentally shooting for 2013 so I don't get all worked up if it doesn't arrive say next month......hahahaha.
