Who is getting a First86 dash plaque?
Since we have received (or hopefully will receive) a license plate frame with a ? of 86 designation who is getting a dash plaque made for their dash?
If you are what will it say? Will you add your VIN number to it? What will the size be and where will you install it? Does anyone on the forum own a trophy shop that could design one and let us First86 buyers make a group purchase so they would all be the same? |
First 86 badging
If I remember correctly did Jack say that they would be working on some type of badge and that it would be later on after we have received our cars that we would get it?
I remember that Toyota corporate was taking notes wen we were asking these questions. |

It would be nice to have some type of closure though, even if was just a note saying, "Hope you're enjoying your cars guys, this concludes the 1st86 program, see you in the twisties! Jack". |
I can make dash plaques if you guys want them. They would be waterjetted (cheaper) or CNC machined (more expensive) and I would probably use stainless and brush them. Anyone interested?

I would like to get one. I am still waiting on a carbon fiber license plate frame and pen set to see what number of the 86 I was assigned. |
I really like that idea. If the idea were to go forward to make a plaque for our First 86 cars, we would go by the number that we got with our carbon fiber license plates??
|
Cool.
That would be cool.

I like the plaque between the seats the Italians did for their First Edition:

Thank goodness they don't have a 70's style Trans Am tacky chicken for it, I'd probably just pass out with excitement. |

*coughcough* IF ANY SCION REPS ARE READING THESE FORUMS RIGHT NOW *cough*
This would be a good thing to have done for the First86 as well. http://gt86.toyota.it/wp-content/the...anteprima1.jpg |
just replace that GT86 with FR-S in the typeface of the trunk badge, then use the corp scion font face for the persons name or whatever and the serialized number -- and maybe include the 86 badge logo in there somewhere. Perfecto as the italians would say. D:!

Im debating calling up Toyota of Italy and being all like "Hey guy, in America we dont have these cool serialized plate, but we totally want them, how much?!"
|
Hey I like the idea of a plaque and putting it in the center there.
So put us on the list and keep us informed. Hey if scion see this- I would love a 'certificate' of some sort for our awards wall. Maybe I could order too of the plaques. |
Yea, I wish we'd get some really special way of proving that our cars were indeed part of the First 86 program, especially since the VINs don't prove it. :(
A nice simple dash plaque would be perfect. |

Sounds like the consensus is to put it on the console behind the shifter. I'll measure that spot when we have Mattle's car here at Airaid tomorrow and draw something up for you guys to check out. Once we have a design nailed down I can get it quoted.
|
Please make me one that says 63/86! Thanks!
|
That square recess behind the shifter is the perfect spot! I am interested in one also, #58/86 and thank you!
|
That would be most excellent. Thanks Airaid. ^_^b

oooh i like that plate, but the problem with community-made product is there will be pp who are not first86 get it and pretend to be (sorry if i sound like a douche). i hope it to be authentic somehow. can we write like a group email to Scion with a rendering?
|
I didnt even get a license plate frame :( i got NOTHING (besides car)

I like the placement of the badge, and I am open to get one if we dont end up getting one from Scion.

Scion Factory authorized? luxmn you DO sound like a douche.
There is no Scion Factory, and beyond that Scion is barely a tangible company. Its easier on the mind just to think of Scion as a very small team of Toyota Employees. Now don't get me wrong, they are some of the most amazing Toyota employees that I have ever met and most of them are real car people, men and women that seem to 'get it' when it comes to cars. However, that tangent aside... Jack Hollis already said the cars will never be 'officially serialized', remember when we asked him that direct question in Long Beach? The intention of Scion was only ever to assign a random number to each car based on receipt of a pen or license plate frame. The first 86 cars, unfortunately, do not hold the same weight as the 'Release Series' cars and thusly will likely never have real serialization from Toyota or Scion. Personally, I could care less. I just want a spiffy plate for mine, but its not like I need it, my vin indicates my car is #500 and I think that will speak for itself when I feel the need to sell this vehicle. |
Easy killer, "factory authorized" were my words not his, but I do think that's what he was asking. :)
My point was that if you want to get licensing from Scion to use the logo, font etc I don't think we could afford to do this. And if you do ask them, believe me that's the direction they would take it. |
Special Plaque for First 86
https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/...file_mask2.png rockyi tds.net 9:03 PM (0 minutes ago)https://mail.google.com/a/tds.net/images/cleardot.gif to Jack_Hollis, Jaycie https://mail.google.com/a/tds.net/images/cleardot.gif Mr. Hollis Dear Jack; A group of the First 86 would like to know if Toyota would consider making a plaque that designates our cars as one of the first 86. I am attaching a web site from Italy that had a custom made plaque for each owner it was all done online. I’m sure they have a cross reference to insure the request is valid. The picture also attached is what they did in Italy; it fits in the area below the shifter in the depression in the console. Might it be something that you or Scion US, would consider doing, maybe the Scion organization in Italy can make them for us in the states of course ours would have FR-S vs. 86 see the picture. If you would please give a response, either yes or no. I do believe that the 86ers would be willing to pay a small charge to have this available The comments on the forum have been very positive we love the car; we all see that some dealers cause a lot of potential buyers to hate car dealers, I hope Toyota is reviewing the overall performance of their dealers and can address the issues regarding up charges (it’s a special car), as well as added upgrades that were not asked for. If you would please respond Best Regards Rocky Ienna 21 of 86 http://gt86.toyota.it/acquista-online/ http://gt86.toyota.it/wp-content/the...anteprima1.jpg https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/no_photo.pngClick here to Reply, Reply to all, or Forward |

|
