Bosch D3312 Oil Filter??? WTF?

Okay so I went to Walmart and went ahead and picked up some oil and filter. Their computer thing said the Bosch D3312 fits the 2013 FRS. As do several online places like Amazon and O'Reilly.

BUT when I looked for the 2014 FRS it says it won't fit (on Amazon). What the hell is up with this? Can I use this filter on my 2014 FRS or not?

I couldn't even find any info with a forum search either...:search:

Bosch makes some pretty bad filters take a look at the oil filter test results.

Compared to what? They're definitely mid grade, but not bad.

I think purlator is a great synthetic oil filter for the price.

You get a better deal getting the OEM Subaru filters from a Subaru dealer, black ones which only cost me about $4 each with washer a few more cents.

The gasket is made for being inverted (amsoil and others with straight cut gaskets are not so good for this setup).

If it fits on '13, it fits on '14. Simple as that.

I don't think anyone on this forum will install some "Wal-Mart" selling oil filter on their cars.....Probably tough to get an answer. For the sake of our cars, most are using OEM.

It doesn't make sense what you are trying to do. Truthfully, filters at the dealership are pretty inexpensive, so it only makes sense to get an OEM one. Oil is a totally different story. I stick with factory, but there are so many good oils out there to choose from.

Try screwing it on. See if it fits. I wouldn't personally trust it if you are getting conflicting information, but that's just me. I would just go OEM

Subaru part number 15208AA130. Accept no substitutes.

Yes, the 3312 will fit your car. Not everyone is trying to be a jerk, just trying to point you in the right direction.

I've used a couple of the bosh ones of that part number, only for short Oci intervals. But they've done their job fine

Autozone usually has bosh as a part of their deal

Call me cheap

Well, I honestly just wanted to know if the filter would fit the car. It won't be on longer than the long road trip I'm about to take before it gets serviced at the dealership.

I bought it thinking it was a decent filter. I know just because it was expensive ($12) it doesn't make it good, but I figured it better than a FRAM filter.

Anyway, I really just bought it because it was there and I was there. In the interest of saving time.

If I can somehow find a Subaru dealership that will sell the stock oil filter to me, I'll go that route. I called two different ones and gave them the part number for the "real" filter (the "Made in Japan" one). Neither one said they stocked them. Maybe they were BSing me, maybe not. Who knows?

I'm darn sure not paying $29.99 for the filter at the Toyota dealership where I bought the car.

Now you should be good till you get rid of the car.
