Insideline getting an FR-S, BRZ long term test cars
Check it out, Edmunds.com's Insideline will be getting a Scion FR-S AND a Subaru BRZ for their long term fleet: http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtests/2012/05/our-next-long-term-cars-are-coming.html :w00t:

I am selling them that one...... (cough)
Seems silly to me to buy two nearly identical long term cars, especially when both are manual.
Ah well, more blog posts for us. |

It's nice that they're getting both cars, but I think there would have been more value in one of the cars being an automatic, and one a manual, just to see a long-term opinion of both transmissions.

Either way, it's more exposure, and that is a good thing. |
They must have really enjoyed their test drives. :happy0180:

the more the merrier!!! but yeah they should of picked up an auto too just in case!
Part of me agrees with the rest of you and thinks that it's silly they picked up two manual tranny's, but then I think how dull it would be to have this car with a slush-box.
It would be nice if it was an auto and a manual but at the same time both being the same will allow them to pick out any subtle differences between the two without "blaming" them on the trany or the weight difference or any of that. Apples to apples
Yeah it would have been nice for them to get a AT as well but MAYBE they didnt wont to see the difference between the 2 cars?
A manual and a manual of the same damn car literally. Why not test the auto? Is it me or does no publication want to test out the automatic BRZ/FRS?
Subaru usually gives them the cars to test so I don't think they have much choice in that one. The Scion I think they had to buy but manual seems like the obvious choice there. I agree with Raphy, I think there's more value to the comparisons when both cars are manual.
