Hood plastic removal

On the brz hood, there's a piece of plastic attached to the underside of the hood at the rear driver's side corner. It's held in by 3 "clips" which have a philips hole in them. I pulled on them but they seem rigidly stuck on there, any idea how to remove this piece? Thanks.

Gently unscrew them and then pull the clip out.

That simple eh? When I gave them a turn they seemed to be free spinning, but there really is something they are unscrewing from?

They just release from the base but don't actually come out. You can't apply too much force inward or they will just stay in the locked position.

If the whole clip is spinning, use your fingers to hold the outside of the clip and unscrew the center

I believe those are one-way push-in fasteners. You will need to pry on the head to get them out and doing so, may ruin them.

Why do you want to remove that plastic piece?

They should just be push in, screw out type clips. A quarter turn counterclockwise should unlock them, and as long as you're careful removing them they should be reusable.

Thanks chaps, came out easily once stabilized the outer ring (1/4 turn and they popped right out).

Was taking out the piece for some engine bay detailing, wanted to avoid spraying anything on the paint.

Ok, I understand now.

In better light I can actually see that these fasteners are made from two pieces. And while holding the outer piece I was able to rotate the inner mandrel, which allows the fastener to be pulled right out.
