Have you had paint work on a WRB?

Has anyone here had any bodywork done where repainting was needed on a World Rally Blue Brz?
I got my car back from the body shop and i'm not too happy with the color match. The shop said to bring it back so they could blend the hood in so its not noticable but IMO the difference is too much to blend.
Almost seems like the new paint doesnt have enough silver metallic pearl, when the sun hits the new paint it doesnt lighten up as much as the OEM paint.
On a cloudy day it looks almost perfect match, when its sunny out tho i can see the difference from 20-30ft away. :(

you should try whiteout ;) they can't even get it right from the factory. Just got mine back, not perfect, but it works. I'm not about to let them blend. I want as little paint work done on the car as possible.

When a kid on a skateboard ran into my bumper I had mine repainted and had the exact issue with the silver metallic pearl. WRB changes year to year as WRB is not all the same. Have them repaint it and make sure its the right color. As for myself I never had mine fixed since 2 weeks later after my repair a kid on a bicycle ran into my car in the same spot...

Thx for the feedback guys.
Heres some pics. As you can see, it kinda matches but kinda doesn't.

It's dark! Better than light….that's what I'm dealing with right now. It catches my eye and bugs me, but my wife couldn't tell, so I assume most people won't

Yea that is a terrible match. When they messed up mine the color matched but it lacked the metallic flakes. This doesn't match at all. Have them repaint it. Do not blend. Really looks like it's the wrong wrb.

I didn't ask about the paint code, they had actually repaired the original fender but i wasn't happy with the body line so i asked them to replace the fender. the paint matched really well the 1st time around.

Sadly paint code means nothing with these cars. I had to have my wing painted three times, bumper twice. It has something to do with the factory they are painted in I think. Temperature, moisture, I have not idea. BEST paint jobs I'm seeing are still noticeable to someone like me with a good eye. I'm OBSESSING about my bumper right now. I brought my neighbor over who is also a car guy and even when I POINTED IT OUT he told me I was crazy. Lol

To be fair, I've been told the plastic bumpers don't really match well to the panels even from the factory with the pearl white. I guess you have to have an eye to notice these kind of things, but it sounds like a hit or miss.

I really do unfortunately. My wife has been AMAZING throught he whole ordeal. When the car is paid off, it's getting repainted….without the pearl. Probably stick to the factory white color, and just have them leave out the "sparkle" to make it easier to match. Pearl is a bitch, and the poor guy who painted my car was not having a good time with it. He offered to paint it as many times as necessary. I still MIGHT have it shot again, but I'm going to try and live with it a bit first.

Does anyone know how well the paint touch up works with this colour (WRB)? Yesterday someone doored the s**t out of my car and there is a huge dent I will have PDR'd but only a very tiny bit of paint damage i want to touch up, its not worth it to respray but my inner OCD will want it gone asap

There is no such thing as a 100% match by panel painting unless its solid black. it can get pretty close, but never perfect. Especially on a large or side panel. For a new fender job the front door and hood should have been blended into. Some insurance companies would even cover to blend the bumper cover.

This is good information! I've been looking at my car the last couple days. Color match is so freaking dead on until it matches to the origional body and then for some reason, it looks like ASS. Body shop owner has been AMAZING and has bent over backword to help me. He told me that if I didn't like it to bring it back and he would blend it. Car might be going back here next week.

The touchup paint is okay.. there's no clear coat mixed with it.. but if it's small enough of a chip that you won't really notice it then it doesn't really matter
