Is this a good deal? Please look inside

My 11 Fit was total in a hail storm here in PA last week and I have been a lurker here for over a year or so and now I'm in the market for the BRZ. Was shopping around for left over 13BRZ premium 6MT and was negotiating with one dealer in MD for $22750 with 142miles on the ODO, dealer said car is showroom and possibly a test drove vehicle with all the miles on it excludes tax/title/199 doc fee. One local dealer here have some 14BRZ premium 6MT and was also negotiating and offer them $23900 but no luck they offer me back $24500 for the car excludes tax and stuff, but with more negotiating will knock it down a few hundreds $ more. All negotiating done via email. Just asking for opinions for those own 13 or 14 how much did you paid for the car, which deals I should go for.

Supposedly, the latter 2014 BRZs have the 2015 spec suspension bolts. The 2013 is in fact, a good deal. I'm sure you can knock a couple hundred off of the 2014 model as well, if you go visit in person. In the end though, they are essentially identical cars. At this point, I'd go visit both cars in person and check them out. One of the things I looks for is how the paint is. Dealers tend to install paint swirls free of charge. A 2013 that's been sitting around and test driven is more likely to have been washed several times and have more swirls. But that's not always the case. Also, since you're up north, you should check out the underbody for rust. A 2013 that has been left out for a long time could have some more surface rust than a 2014.

In the end, it's your money.

You have no idea what kind of miles those 142 are

Those first miles are very important

I wouldn't take a chance - get the lowest mileage car

I agree with the above, the piece of mind knowing i had the car with <20 miles is worth the extra money to me..

142mi is nothing. The 2013 sounds like a solid deal. Full disclosure: I don't even remember how many miles mine had, but I'm pretty sure it was under 20.

There are some service bulletins that apply to the 2013 that likely will not apply to the 2014, so that is something minor to keep in mind. Also, the maps will be a little outdated, but can be updated. For me, if the dealer would install the latest maps and the other nav fixes that come with that update, that would be all it would have taken for me to get a 2013 over the 2014 I got (no 2013s were in stock around here). But, worth understanding there are at least a few less "bugs" in the 2014 model vs the 2013, in general.

If you are financing, don't forget to look into what that will cost you. If there are any variances in rate offerings.
I got 1.9 on my 14 and they were offering .9 on shorter term.
Personally I would go with a later (14) since any production bugs have been sorted out. I never buy the first year in a model production run.

Sorry you got nailed by that hail. I had the BRZ here at work that day and it just missed us. whew.

Alright guys just an update, went to a local Subie dealer and test drove the 14 BRZSWP and decided to ditch the 13 and save a 2hr drive so I went with the 14 premium and haggled it down to $24350 with the $699 option dealer install like rear cargo tray, autodimming rearview mirror, etc... OTD price $26k with 0.9 financing. So you guy thinks the OTD pricing was a good deal?
