Sell the Boss 302 and get FRS/BRZ

I have 2013 Mustang Boss 302 that I got it for the track use ( I know, crazy idea to use $45K car for track) but the cost of consumable items is becoming very high.
It is a heavy car, 3663 Ib mass, that is very taxing on tires, brake pads and rotors as well as fluids ( gas, brake fluids, tranny and diff fluids as well as oil change)
Hence, I am considering selling or garage queen the Boss and get myself either a NC Miata or FRS/BRZ for the track.
They are lighter weight cars so I assume, theoretically at least, they will be less harsh on the consumable items.

Can you please share your thoughts about this subject?

Thanks

One of the main reasons I bought my BRZ. Low consumable costs for track use. I'll be sticking with 225 wide tires on all four corners, average of 150 a tire. Rotor blanks are 50 a pop for the front. Pads are 60-140 depending.

Pretty darn cheap car to track compared to most of the other RWD options out there these days, except for the older cars.

That, plus it's handling characteristics making it a good car to really progress your driving skill with.

Your logic seems to follow...except the part where you want to trade a Boss for an FRS.

If you want a dedicated track car, I would go used for sure and would consider an FR-S/BRZ, Miata, and S2K and try to keep the Boss.

But you better drive all of them after owning a Boss :) They are going to be a whole different experience on the track.

Queen the Boss, pick up a used Miata or FR-S/BRZ. Easier to find the Miata, but I think the FR-S/BRZ will be more 'unique.'

I think I will alternatively track my DD honda Fit and the Boss too, since selling a new car within 1 year of ownership is a loss loss situation

It'll be cheaper than a Boss if you stick to OEM brakes, rotors, and tires. Brakes though, eh, I've only been able to make them last 2 track days before changing them out (the track I go through is very hard on brakes though). Tires could probably go through 3? They don't wear out easily. And this is all while using it as my daily also.

These cars really feel at home at the track because of their light weight and handling balance. Consumables are very cheap as well. Coupe body makes it a better track + daily option than a Miata or S2000 IMO, as you don't need a roll bar and won't run into track/club restrictions on convertibles.

Just don't expect these cars to accelerate like a Boss obviously. I did have fun trying to hold off (and eventually getting passed) by a less-experienced driver in a Mustang the last time I was at the track. I was a bit relieved to see that it was a Boss 302 and not a V6 with the way he was keeping pace in the corners. :D

i had an nc prht, traded it for the frs. couldnt track the nc with some clubs due to the broom stick test. also the nc out of the box is going to be very uninspiring for a track car. way too much body roll. youll basically have to change out the entire suspension just to be comparable to an oem frs. i also hated (HATED) the seating position in the nc. way worse than an na(best) and nb imop. no matter how i shimmed the seat i always pinched my sciatica. the first time i sat in the frs, it was like...ahhhh...this is how proper seating position feels like. that was my take. but then again i went and got a track dedicated nb and keeping the frs nice and clean for the street.

Sell the Boss 302 and get FRS/BRZ

A miata turbo kit runs < $1000 and a brz turbo > $5000... Track only, miata is way cheaper to build...

But 86's look better doing it.

You're funny. Trading a Boss for a dime a dozen FR-S. That would be the deal of the century for you.
