Clicking / Ticking Rear Noise

Anyone else have the issue where you start off in 1st gear and hear this clinking/ticking noise on the driver side rear?

Every time when I accelerate from 1st I hear this clicking or ticking noise from the driver side rear. I can some times hear it clicking or ticking when I shift to second or when I'm in second and slowing down from 3-4000rpm it also happens when I shift to third some times as well.

Anyone know whats going on?

I'm thinking about bringing in my car tomorrow to the dealership to take a look at it.

Thanks everyone and sorry if this has been answered before.

Also, I'm bone stock no mods to anything.

Yeah exactly like that!

How did you guys end up fixing it? Torquing it down to 140lbs?

They still never really fixed mine. They took apart the axle but nothing was wrong. They tightened down the bolt and that helped a bit, but it's still there. Take it in and see what they say. Some people have had it go away when the bolt is tightened. If enough people tell the dealer, then maybe more investigation will go into it. Let us know what they say and do!

Will do. The noise doesn't really bother me much and I just want to make sure nothing is going to break.

Anything from the dealer?

Yeah just an update, literally got back my car yesterday. Took my car to the dealer and they tightened up the rear axle bolt on the driver side and the noise went away. After 100 miles or so, the noise has not come back.

This is clearly a common issue with our cars, I don't understand why there is no TSB for this.

I have a clicking sound as well, but not like the one in the video. It does not happen when I press the gas pedal. Mine sounds like something is rattling around the wheel.

Had a similar issue. Replaced axle nuts... no more clicking. The guys that helped me out noted that the swaybar endlink was a little loose, so they re-torqued that. Did track event over the weekend and a few days later the clicking came back, but much less severe.

Can you take it to the dealer to check it out? Worth a shot I suppose.

BTW-my clicking never came back.

Sorry to raise this from the grave but I have this same issue. Took it to the dealer twice but they did not hear anything so now it's on me to fix it. So any diy on how to do this? Do I need to jack up the car and take off the wheel? Any special tools? I have a fair bit of experience working on cars but only in the engine bay...

Take to different dealer.

Try to record video of it.

Call Toyota and see what they may recommend.

If those fail, then yeah, take it upon yourself and good luck!
