Think I am going to sit this weekend out, BUT.. I will likely attend and bring my helmet if anyone needs a little ballast.

If you want a ride there let me know, I'll be coming from the north end of Whitby.

Thanks Will, getting an oil change done at C&C Saturday morning and then will take a leisurely drive up there. I'll look you up when I get there though. Gonna bring the camera along. At Picton I had almost no time for photo taking.
BTW you going to the trillium event on the 14th at DDT? Think that will be the next competition I attend.

I might, not sure I want to compete or not though. Last year was A LOT of waiting, too many cars not paying attention to when their run was coming up (blame it on the big car show right beside the track, lots to look at). By the time everyone finished their runs there was only like an hour left for open lapping.

I know they're trying to improve it, but I might just take pictures and spectate this year to see how it goes.

I didn't make it out afterall.. and looks like I won't get to the 14th either.. went shopping yesterday and ended up in st catherines buyin a used Miata.. gotta go back on the 14th to pick it up..

I was physically there, but barely there mentally. First three runs I went off course (saw it happening too, I just spaced for a split second... at least it wasn't the same gate each run :p). My fastest run with a time (before penalties) had 8 seconds of cone penalties from blowing the stop box.

Still a fun day though :D

I pretty much threw myself off right from the beginning. The drive down to get lunch was the kicker. I fought the car all day and just couldn't get it going. Not a good day for me but that usually happens after I have a really good event previously.

Great to meet nvortex. Hopefully I didn't give you information overload. You progressed well during the day and you were starting to get a hold of it during my last run with you.

Next event is June 22nd, and registration will open tomorrow. I will post up all the info.

^^ Does the computer record the time for off course runs at all? Serge was playing with the AIM timer, so even though my first three runs don't count, knowing the times would help make sense of the data on the timer.

Thanks everyone for all the advice and coaching. Struggled a bit but had a lot of fun. I'll definitely sign up for more events this summer.

Unfortunately, no. When an O/C is entered, the time is automatically changed to 999.99, so unless it's written down before it's entered, there's no way to know.

I figured as much, that's how we record DNF's for ski racing too.

It's more technical, but as long as you're mentally there (I wasn't!) you'll be fine.

The BMW Trillium club has one this coming Saturday on the DDT. It's still an autoslalom, just on the track instead of a parking lot, and the course setup will take you way off the racing line a lot. It's not cheap though, about $130/driver, BUT it does include open lapping after the autoslalom finishes.
