solo dl - halp ?
plugged this baby in and found starting the car would just cause the car to turn off. unplugged it and did some more research.
saw i needed to configure it on the pc - set the ecu to be type toyota and gt86. also downloaded the latest firmware. set that and put it back in the car. now the car starts up, but the dash is all lit up - power sterring doesn't work. didn't try driving much in this state; unplugging the solo dl results in power steering coming back and some lights going away, but in some kind of limp mode - can't go over 4k rpm. if i start the car without the solo dl attached at all, it seems to drive normally. check engine light is on though. track day tomorrow - any ideas? thanks. |
problem mix between me using the software like a nub and a bad usb cable. actually the cable is working happily with other devices although not this one (odd) - found another cable and it seems to be happy now.

I've run into this before in other forms.
Our 2013 had a bad connection, and would reset the Solo DL. I've run into another BRZ that went straight into limp mode every time the Solo DL was connected. Some cars use it just fine, other cars just freak out. Check the pins on your OBD2 port. Make sure none of them are shorted. |

Try a different OBD2 reader, but also check your OBD2 wiring. |
my problem was
1. initially not telling the solo dl my ecu 2. attempting to but failing when usb cable was bad after i successfully replaced the cable and transferred the config, all was right in the world. |
