Plastic Rails and Seat Backs

May sound knit picky or whiny, however,

I've been thinking about it and it was one of the things I hated once my last car got some wear on it:

The plastic panels along the door sill and the plastics on the backs of seats / center console / etc can get marked up pretty badly with people getting in and out of the vehicle. Some wipe off and unfortunately some don't.

Do any of you guys do preventative care of any sort for this or just deal with it as it is a part of normal yet unfortunate wear?

I just warn passengers and grill them as the enter. :paddle:

I usually park in a wide enough area to allow the door to open all the way. Everyone that comes near any of my cars knows not to even breath on them because I am so anal about the finish.

BTW, do you actually expect people to mark the back of the seats? I dont know anyone that would fit back there.

No one will be getting in your back seat, so don't worry about the seat backs!

3 of us went to lunch in the car the other day, and since one of the other guys was tallish (6'2" maybe) the person in the back had to sit sideways. Butt in one seat, feet on the other side. Not too comfy, so we probably won't be taking my car for lunch too much :)

Meguairs Back to black is an excellent trim detailer, last about 3 months so constant reapplication needed but it does the job well better than any other protectant ive used before.

Nice. Might have to look into that, if not for the rails but for the dash and other areas as it seems that it's going to need it (sun, fade, etc).

Ive been detailing and helping NWIguy new SWP BRZ and i noticed that for the interior, its advisable to use these natural shine/no gloss protectant on the soft textured part of the dash (most of the top portion). Avoid product such as armor all as it tends to be greasy.

Try an interior cleaner like 1Z c-o-c-kpit premium and protect it with 303 Aerospace protectant.
Wow...... apparantly I can't wait that word...... that's pretty gay, it's an interior cleaner for Christ sake.

The best way to prevent damage is to not cause it in the first place... I also warn people when they get in my car. I don't care if they get all touchy about it; they're not making the payments on it; I am!
