Annnnnd I got rear-ended.

Last car in a "domino effect" accident. I was stopped on the expressway at a poorly designed interchange, lady behind me came to a quick stop but was close, then a semi changed lanes at the last second to avoid stopping... but the car behind it didn't see that traffic wasn't moving (because of the semi) and couldn't slow it down. I seem to be doing OK but my poor car is worse for the wear. Exhaust is so kinked that it's dragging on ground. Tail light is bent away from wear it fits in the rear quarter panel. Trunk floor bottom is pinched between the back seat and back of the car (I.E. I can't pull it out). Rear crash beam is bent down and pushed in a bit.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps162c3644.jpgUPDATE #1: Insurance adjuster quoted a bit over $5k in damage, but now that they've looked at it the body shop can actually tear into it and see what's going on. She said they don't even get down and look underneath it, which would explain why he only quoted me a muffler even tho the whole exhaust is kinked down and dragging where joins at the mid pipe.

That'll buff out

Sorry to see. It will be interesting to see the new technology coming out in cars that can detect these types of accidents infront of semis incase they switch lanes last minute like this. Cars can be fixed, hope you're still feeling ok since whiplash symptoms can develop after a couple hours.

civdaddy 05-24-2014 11:49 AM

Damn that sucks but hey as long as your ok it's just a car that will get fixed. Luckily you were the last one to get hit and not in the middle. So you won't get jacked around by the insurance companies at all.

Zelica 05-24-2014 11:50 AM

Ugh, that sucks, let us know about the insurance and how much damage it was.

Hope everything works out man

Dezoris 05-24-2014 11:56 AM

Sorry bout that one, blows.

ZionsWrath 05-24-2014 11:58 AM

Fuk me, I'd hate to be in that situation. You know they are going to repair it then you have to decide if you want to take the depreciation hit and trade or keep.

I'd keep it personally as long as it drives OK.

Good luck OP, hope you aren't hurt.

Chimpo 05-24-2014 12:03 PM

I've been wanting to get back into a WRX or STi again for some time now, but yeah this blows because there went a lot value. Maybe keep and drive it into the ground since with out a care since "it'll never be the same" :bonk:

FRSure 05-24-2014 02:46 PM

Is the quarter panel damaged? If so about 8-10k in damage.

hmong337 05-24-2014 03:14 PM

pains me even more since my car is blue too :(

hope things work out for you.

FRSupra 05-24-2014 03:41 PM

Sorry to hear about this, although I found humor in your drive listing.

Glad that you're ok, shame that it was ultramarine.

shellslinger 05-24-2014 03:51 PM

I'm sure your car will be okay, hopefully the damage underneath doesn't look as bad as the bumper.

jebuwh 05-24-2014 05:20 PM

On the plus side your new bumper won't have that dumb scion bumper logo thing! Unless you like that in which case its really good looking! Haha.

But for real, looks like something that can be fixed. I was very sad to see the best color frs hurt.
