Best tire size for 18x9 et 35
 

As the title says.
We have this awesome fitment chart, but it's only part of the equation.
Wheel size is one thing, tire size another...

What do you guys run on your 18x9s with et35 or similar?

235 40, 245 40...?

Depends on what you want. To me, a 18x9 wheel means a 255/35 tire. But since you're looking at a +25 offset, I don't think performance is your primary goal. In that case a 245 or stretching a 235 might be a better choice for fender clearance.

225 is a little skinny for a 9" IMHO.

Got pics of your setup?

I just ordered some 18x9 +35 wheels.. I'm looking at 245/40 or 255/35 right now. Anybody have pics they can share?

Go through the wheel directory, look at 18x9's and see what tyre they're running and how they look..

I have 225/40 on work meister s1r, link in there

I have looked through a shitload, but I have yet to find a 235 or 245 mounted up front...
Lots of guys don't list their tires at all.

So I'll ask again, if you have 225s - WHY?
Inner clearance, outer clearance, looks, performance - WHY 225s?

225s provide far more grip than a 150whp car will ever need. Going any bigger seemed pointless.

225s were the narrowest tyre I could legally fit onto a 18x9

Ok, well, my car isn't 150 whp though ;)
I mean, it is right now, but not next week when it's boostin 10 psi.

So, again - COULD you fit 235s or 245s?
Also, it looks like yours are kinda tucked in the front. Do you think ET 25s would work as well?
I'm thinking less ET - more inner clearance for them Megan rack ends...

Even when my car is 300whp, I'm still going to run the 225/40's.

But you could quite happily use 255/35 on them at +35. They wont rub with stock lock, but will with new tie rods, but will still give more lock.

Going +25 on a 18" tyre might foul on the inner fender, depending on how much castor your running. I'm not certain on that, but thats what I'd suspect will happen.

My advice, seeing as you're going to run more lock, would be do either..
225/40/18 on 18x9+35
225/40/18 on 18x9+25

Running a 255/35 on 18x9 +35 will rub on the sway bar sooner with the new tie rods, limiting your lock
Running a 255/35 on 18x9 +25 will rub (I suspect) on the inner fender.

Trust me, you don't need more than a 225/40 on the front on the street, no way. If you need more on the track, run a semi, not a wider tyre.
