It's gonna be my first oil change on the brz. was wondering what oil is everyone using?

Just put Motul 300V in my car for my upcoming track day. Before that I was running Eneos Sustina (100% street driving, though a bit "spirited" lol)

You should use 2 stroke oil. It runs the best with these motors.

If you have to ask... use OE-spec 0W-20 synthetic or something identical to that.

As for what brand etc, it makes no difference.

I'll second that. The TGMO (Toyota's house brand) gets very good reviews on the oil forums, and the price is reasonable. I believe it is made by Exxon/Mobil. The Subaru house brand is also a decent oil. If you plan on doing your own oil changes, buy a case of 12 quarts, and they'll usually shoot you a lower price. As for the filter, depending on how savvy the parts guy is, you could end up with a few different filters (blue ones, black ones, tall ones, short ones, etc) The correct one is part number 15208AA130.

I changed the factory oil at 1200 miles with Motul 300V 0w20. I've used 300V in my past cars and it's never failed me. at 5500, I decided to switch to Millers Oils Nanodrive CFS 0w20. Read this:
