New to the area! (Cupertino)

Hey all, NorCal is going to be my new home come mid June. My wife and I are moving from Ontario, Canada to Cupertino, CA mid June. I'm pretty excited about the car scene you guys have in California, we don't have a whole lot in the way of shops in my area - not to mention everything is cheaper in the US!

Does anyone have any recommendations on tuning/car parts shops that are in the area? I understand Vishnu Tuning is in SF, curious if there are other vendors you guys could point me to? Also are there local meets in the bay area? Also, any other Apple employees I might bump into in the parking lot? We're moving to a brand new place and don't know anyone yet, so it would be nice to make a few friends through the forums :)

I will definitely do some searching on my own but figured someone might be able to give me a kick start in getting settled in with the FRS/BRZ crowd

Thanks!

Hi there! Welcome to the area! I recently moved here myself too and am still getting to know everything.

Speed Element is a good shop, you can go check them out as well. They are in South Bay, so close to you as well. From my knowledge, there are weekly meets in South Bay as well on Wednesday!

Welcome to the forum - I grew up in Cupertino and live in Los Altos, the town right next to Cupertino. Let me know if you need some showing around. You will find most shops in the East Bay. As for local meets, get in touch with the Norcal 86 folks. Here is a weekly one: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50749

There are a few events coming up that could be a good ice breaker!

Welcome to the Bay! First off you're going to love our weather, never gets too extreme and out of control.

I'd recommend ordering everything from @FT-86 SpeedFactory, free shipping on orders over $250 and great customer service. Everything gets over here in 5 days, I've ordered stuff on Fri/Weekends - ships Monday and I get the new toys by Friday afternoon.

As for installs I've taken my stuff to Neal @WiebTech Performance . Drive up with the parts in your trunk and drive back with parts installed = FUN x infinity!

Oh and before I forget  congrats on the job at Apple!!! I would love to work there in their iAd dept. you lucky son of a gun!

Cya Around!

Welcome to the neighborhood. My wife and I moved to the area late last year when she got a job at Apple. Love the weather and the abundance of twisty roads. But, I love the 86 folks here more. Best car club I have ever been honored to be a part of. Make sure to join for the NorCal86 Summer Kickoff and hang out with lots of owners. Oh crap, that reminds me... need to organize the caravan for the South Bay folks :bonk:

A bit off topic but Cupertino (south bay in general) has a lot of good boba places !

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do :D !

Welcome to Cupertino in the area there is Tapioca Express / Verde / T-Pumps all on Stevens Creek down the street from the main Apple Campus.

I recommend Gooyi Gooyi for Korean BBQ, it is my favorite in the area. See you on the streets and maybe at Thunderhill too!
