can we get a slammed and stretched subforum?

it just seems to be a little bit of a cause for bickering. there are a bunch of people who care about going fast and performance and then people who care about how close they can get to the ground with as much camber and rim whit as little tire as possible. i just think it would be a better place for everyone if it was easier to find stuff if you werent having to go through the unwanted info.

for the love of god no.

I don't see why not. Just because it's not everyone's thing doesn't mean that the people who enjoy it shouldn't have a place to talk. It's not like they're doing anything illegal.

There's already a spot for it though. It should go in the suspension and/or wheels and tires forums.

jamesm 05-22-2014 02:20 PM

if we're gonna do that... we might as well have a 'donk' sub-forum.

That is debateable. There are definitely ride height and unsafe on the road laws in most states. If the contact patch of your tire is only 1 inch, I would call that unsafe and endangering the lives of all motorists on the road.

Except people don't donk these cars, other than maybe one or two. A decent number do stance them out, though. And asking questions or posting pics in the wheels and tires or suspension forums just gets them shouted down by everyone who thinks it's stupid.

Why not have a "Stance Lifestyle" subforum under suspension? That way, all the stance posts and questions can be located in one place instead of all being scattered everywhere, they don't get harassed by other users who think it's stupid, and it stays out of the regular wheel and tire and suspension forums.

And I'm not even a Stance guy. It just makes sense from an organizational standpoint to have a significant minority of the forum have a place dedicated to them.

Illegal as compared to the drift guys that post videos of them drifting in traffic or on public roads. I'd be much more worried about that than I would be about a car that was worried about scraping his lip kit on a blade of grass.

I have never been on a forum that had a Stance Lifestyle section. Does the BRZ/FR-S community really want to be the first place to do it? Remember they are the minority. There are Stance forums and Instagram they can go to get their props.

Although I am highly against this "stance" culture, people are going to do what they want to do. So I see no harm in them having their own place to post and discuss "stance" stuff and keep them out of the regular suspension and tires threads.

We don't have a drifting section either, and I am a grip guy and always will be.

gramicci101 05-22-2014 02:46 PM

There are 260 threads with "drift" in the title, many with multiple pages of responses. Some of them are member's journals or vendor advertisements, but most are not. Just because you're a grip guy doesn't mean everyone with an 86 is the same. And I've seen videos on here of drift guys doing some incredibly dangerous and outright illegal stunts in these cars. Nearly all the pics and videos of stanced cars are either sitting still for show or rolling in a straight line.

I found 80 in the forums that "somewhat technical" things are talked about and of those 20 or so had Drift-Office in the title and some were talking about that Drift company's front bumper beam. I would expect there is a similar number of stance threads.

gramicci101 05-22-2014 03:10 PM

Possibly, but a lot of people post their info in the same threads instead of starting their own thread. Would you agree that more than a few people drift or stance their cars?

And what's the harm in it? It's easy to administer a subforum; I've done it myself. It will clean up the other forums by providing a location to post in. If it ends up not being used as much as expected, then it can be deleted.
